Just finished reading Come Hell or High Water Broken Heart, OK, Book 6 by Michele Bardsley which I give 3 stars The Broken Heart series is about a group of single parents in the town of Broken Heart, Oklahoma who all get attacked one night and are turned into vampires Each book is about a different one of the so called Turn Bloods They re paranormal romances because of the HEA at the end of each book, but the series itself also has a story arc.Come Hell or High Water features Phoebe Allen Just finished reading Come Hell or High Water Broken Heart, OK, Book 6 by Michele Bardsley which I give 3 stars The Broken Heart series is about a group of single parents in the town of Broken Heart, Oklahoma who all get attacked one night and are turned into vampires Each book is about a different one of the so called Turn Bloods They re paranormal romances because of the HEA at the end of each book, but the series itself also has a story arc.Come Hell or High Water features Phoebe Allen, mother of four year old, Danny and member of the vampire family whose powers include a certain amount of control over demons Phoebe impetuously mates herself to a Scottish hunk named Connor, who turns out to be half demon and suddenly finds herself in the middle of a quest to locate an ancient talisman and perform a ritual to banish Lilith, a super demon, back to Hell I ve always enjoyed the books from this series, but sadly, I find myself less engaged with each new book They re a fairly quick, light read with lots of humor and a bit of excitement danger mixed in, but there are some plot holes and consistency mistakes here and there that bother me and I m the type of person who usually doesn t notice these things For instance in Come Hell or High Water we re told that Phoebe is the last female vampire of the Durga family line However, in the glossary of the Broken Heart Turn Bloods it clearly says that Darlene Clark whose book I assume we ll see down the line somewhere is also a member of family Durga We re also given some information in the glossary about Turn Blood, Elizabeth Bretton nee Silverstone She s supposed to be separated from her first husband, Carlton, and has a seventeen year old daughter named Venice who lives with Carlton in LA However, in the teaser for the next book Elizabeth s book it says that her husband is Henry and that Venice is his daughter by another women, and therefore Elizabeth s step daughter In the same teaser there s a mention of 18 year old Marybeth Beauchamp, another Turn Blood that the glossary has listed as being 19 years old See what I mean Regardless, I ll probably buy the next book because they re a nice entertaining break from heavier reading, but I m hoping they edit the glossary next time around

Phoebe also soon finds out that she is the last female vampire of her kind, and is being hunted by a crazy goddess named Lilith, who just happens to be her demon husbands stepmother Phoebe s life has turned completely upside down Poor Phoebe Will things finally look up for her, and will she accept Connor for what he really is, even if he is a demon I have wanted to read Michele Bardsley books for quite sometime now, and I finally got the opportunity Right from the first page I was hooked It wasn t but a few pages in that I knew that this was going to be an awesome book I absolutely loved the humor in the book, I laughed all the way through it I also loved the character Phoebe, she lights up the pages with her sarcasm Fantastic is I all I can say about this book, I loved every minute of it and I can t wait to read another book of Michele Bardsley 5 Bats out of 5 Reviewed by Raven Kelly Webmistress of VampireBooks.ca Click Here to Visit VampireBooks.ca

Since the first book in this series, I fell in love with Broken Heart Different from most paranormal romances, Bardsley focus is in the humor of it all The whole concept of the series is already hilarious small town single parents turned into vampires by accident Each book focus on one of these turn bloods as these vampires are called and we follow their struggle to take care of their children, keep their normal lives only with a different schedule, running from sunlight and, as if that Since the first book in this series, I fell in love with Broken Heart Different from most paranormal romances, Bardsley focus is in the humor of it all The whole concept of the series is already hilarious small town single parents turned into vampires by accident Each book focus on one of these turn bloods as these vampires are called and we follow their struggle to take care of their children, keep their normal lives only with a different schedule, running from sunlight and, as if that wasn t challenging enough, they have to deal with new found love in the middle of un life threatening crisis This sixth installment brings Phoebe s story She s the mother to a four year old, runs the town diner, functions as Broken Heart s demon hunter in her spare time and never really fell in love In a very impulsive decision, she takes Connor home for the night uh..in her case, day He s this sexy Ghillie Dhu scottish fairy who neglected to mention he s also half demon Now she s mated to him for the next century and his step mom, a full blooded super strong demon who s not Phoebe s fan, will do anything to get out of hell Phoebe is built in a way that s almost too real She gets scared, she acts selfishly, she does stupid things and she s really impulsive She regrets many of her actions one second after doing it I can totally relate Connor, on the other hand, is Mr Perfect if you can ignore he s a demon His patience is never ending, he s protective and extremely charming Not to mention, I do have a thing for characters with scottish accents What else can a girl want Bardsley writes from Phoebe s perspective and the whole book seems like a friend telling you a story, it s really captivating and I couldn t put it down The only reason this is not a five star review is because I felt this one got a little confusing with the amount of characters Some parts I had to ask myself wait, who s that Also, I felt that the structure in Broken Heart is changing a lot and leading to aserious universe Not necessarily a bad thing, but I hope it doesn t jeopardize the humorous essence of the series I ll be waiting for the next one

I liked the first few books of this series better The author has gotten into too much of the back story and that detracts from the romance angle of the book and also burdens the story This series is getting very convuluted and I m not s ure I ll continue to read it.

Thankfully Phoebe s four year old son Danny is safely away at Disneyworld with his human father Because Phoebe s right in the middle of major paranormal drama, helping Connor and his rag tag group of friends retrieve part of an ancient talisman in order to ward off Connor s vicious stepmother, an uber demon named Lilith Phoebe swears she isn t falling for any of Connor s demon charm But still, he s willing to do anything to protect her and prevent demons from storming into Broken Heart And h Thankfully Phoebe s four year old son Danny is safely away at Disneyworld with his human father Because Phoebe s right in the middle of major paranormal drama, helping Connor and his rag tag group of friends retrieve part of an ancient talisman in order to ward off Connor s vicious stepmother, an uber demon named Lilith Phoebe swears she isn t falling for any of Connor s demon charm But still, he s willing to do anything to protect her and prevent demons from storming into Broken Heart And her undead heart can t resist a bad boy with identity issues..Heather s NotesI didn t pratically care for Phoebe I got really annoyed with her throughout the book and that made it hard for me to really like the book Also it seems to have skipped several years and it made the story feel fractured It didn t have the humor that usually makes these books so enjoyable I will probably read the next one but I am not looking forward to it as much as I would like to be

The romance between the two wasn t all that great Conner seemed a bit too emo for my liking I did, as usual, enjoy the WTF Bardsley has going on for this series and its paranormal world.I so enjoy how it s a mash up of a lot of different and familiar mythologies and beliefs.Nice amount of humor and seriousness to it all It also kept me guessing, for the most part, about how the story would roll.
