Award winning author Ifeoma Onyefulu writes through her son’s viewpoint in this great non fiction picture book Ifeoma’s son Ikenna shares with readers the wonder and excitement of travelling to Nigeria to visit family and learning about his own roots in Africa This multicultural text was published in Britain and includes large colorful photographs to introduce the reader to Nigerian culture This culturally specific book is a great non fiction text that includes a glossary and index I would include it in my classroom to provide students with information regarding Nigeria as well as to offer a varied perspective as the young narrator is from London England and seeing Nigeria and his cousins for the first time

This book is a children’s story about a little boy you travels to Nigeria The author explains all the different sites and cities the boy visits In my opinion the book is ok to me but if anyone wanted to teach their children about African countries this book would be good

refreshing to find a childs book on Nigeria that shares the culture and does not focus on the poverty

A photographic account of Ikenna's trip to his family in Nigeria

  5. Elizabeth Elizabeth says:

I appreciate that this book shows that Africa includes modern cities as well as traditional ways of living often both in the same place but because it moves through so many different parts of Nigeria in a brief narrative it felt somewhat rushed and info dump y to me
