Sionnach Wintergreen has outdone herself in this second book in her epic fantasy series, The Astralasphere Spiral The story begins with a power struggle when Lycian uses his magic to control the warmancers and their allies, and ultimately gains control of Astralasphere The problem with Lycian s plans is that nothing gain through magic lasts forever Lycian sees his world crumbling before his eyes, as the mage greed and thirst for power prove difficult to contain Lycian finds himself caught in Sionnach Wintergreen has outdone herself in this second book in her epic fantasy series, The Astralasphere Spiral The story begins with a power struggle when Lycian uses his magic to control the warmancers and their allies, and ultimately gains control of Astralasphere The problem with Lycian s plans is that nothing gain through magic lasts forever Lycian sees his world crumbling before his eyes, as the mage greed and thirst for power prove difficult to contain Lycian finds himself caught in the middle as the warring factions threaten the stability of the two worlds, plunging them into the deepest darkness.I love Wintergreen style and the way she develops her characters even though Lycian is a fantasy creature, I m able to bond with him and was rooting for him to conquer and succeed in his mission, even in his unrequited love for the selfish Writheria Poor Lycian, will darkness prevail over light This is a question for fantasy lovers as the battles continue

Under the Shadow is different than its predecessor, Another World s Song, in that in this book, we get to watch the characters truly grow It s not a physical odyssey this time so much as an emotional one, with twists and turns and the unexpected occurring With this book I feel the reader gets ain depth look at the day to day lives of the characters, and once again a look at their thoughts and hopes In the end I found myself muchattached to both Mylinka and Lycian, especially Mylin Under the Shadow is different than its predecessor, Another World s Song, in that in this book, we get to watch the characters truly grow It s not a physical odyssey this time so much as an emotional one, with twists and turns and the unexpected occurring With this book I feel the reader gets ain depth look at the day to day lives of the characters, and once again a look at their thoughts and hopes In the end I found myself muchattached to both Mylinka and Lycian, especially Mylinka Much like Another World s Song, it s an enjoyable read, very different than other fantasy books I ve read I would definitely recommend it

This is a great epic fantasy It s the second book, I did not read the first book and it can easily stand alone, although it might befun to read them all At this point in the saga Lycian and Mylinka are off on their own separate quests and think the other is dead Both go through hard times and must discover who they really are and what their destiny is The book is well written with lots of graphic descriptions of the evil in the world they are living in I look forward to seeing how the This is a great epic fantasy It s the second book, I did not read the first book and it can easily stand alone, although it might befun to read them all At this point in the saga Lycian and Mylinka are off on their own separate quests and think the other is dead Both go through hard times and must discover who they really are and what their destiny is The book is well written with lots of graphic descriptions of the evil in the world they are living in I look forward to seeing how their story will unfold and will read the next one

Under The Shadow, is the second book in the Astralasphere Spiral series, an epic fantasy The story features Lycian, a kind of magician, who is trying to find his way and where he belongs in the world he inhabits He is also trying to come to terms with his magical powers and for what purpose they should be used He s a very sympathetic character, but at the same time, he does little to take control of his life and focus on what is important.Mylinka, the other central character, has a parallel Under The Shadow, is the second book in the Astralasphere Spiral series, an epic fantasy The story features Lycian, a kind of magician, who is trying to find his way and where he belongs in the world he inhabits He is also trying to come to terms with his magical powers and for what purpose they should be used He s a very sympathetic character, but at the same time, he does little to take control of his life and focus on what is important.Mylinka, the other central character, has a parallel story within the book, but they never come face to face in this story They have met once in the previous book and appear to be fated for each other The story of Mylinka, as slave girl, abused from an early age, who through sheer grit and determination, takes control of her life to fulfill her destiny, is a fascinating read. Both these characters are somewhat flawed, and though one of them fulfills part of their destiny, the story continues, as there areadventures to come later, obviously in following books Though the book can be read as a standalone, I, as a reader have issues with the sequel style of this story For me, the lack of closure of what the characters seek, left me feeling that empty without a satisfying ending The characters, in some ways are true to life, but they drift a lot This may be the reality of the everyday world, but as a lover of fiction, I read for the characters to have specific goals they are struggling to attain That s the beauty of fiction, unlike real life, it contains goals and objectives, along with challenges, but for the reader to stay focused, these must be spelled out and tackled head on And the significance of the Astralasphere is never quite explained, though there are hints.Ms Wintergreen s genuis with words and creating an alternate reality are unparalled She is a word smith of amazing talent Her fantasy world is superbly crafted with details that suck you into her unique fantasy world But on the other hand, the world she creates is difficult to follow with all the characters and their powers and where they fit in the scheme of things It was a trifle overwhelming For example, Mylinka, who is first portrayed as a slave girl being watched and guarded, somehow breaks free from her captor and pursues her own destiny How this is accomplished is not really spelled out in the story And the characters in the Tower of Truth aren t integrated into the story, either. But for sheer power of the written word to enthrall readers and for the author s awesome metaphors and alternate words to depict her world, I ve never read a finer example of a fantasy world This book, just for the joy of reading the written word, is a stand out genius work of fantasy building at its finest
