I enjoyed this book primarily because I have gone to church with Anita Carman for years and was naturally curious about her story I found her testimony insightful As a what, tenth generation American, I have no idea about the life of an immigrant This then, was an amazing story for me I tend to see immigrants only for who they have become in the States, and a vague accent is often the only reminder I have of the rich adventure that was their life before America I don t mean to be rude it I enjoyed this book primarily because I have gone to church with Anita Carman for years and was naturally curious about her story I found her testimony insightful As a what, tenth generation American, I have no idea about the life of an immigrant This then, was an amazing story for me I tend to see immigrants only for who they have become in the States, and a vague accent is often the only reminder I have of the rich adventure that was their life before America I don t mean to be rude it is simply not possible for me to fill in those blank years unless I can hear the stories This book does that so well that it makes me realize how much I still do not know about all my friends and coworkers who are also immigrants It was great to see the way God s grace could weave so many stories together, and the way so much heartache could be used to bless others Nice work
