The Book of Lists is a popular topic as a whole and this book focuses solely on the Star Trek series, excluding the recent Discovery The book has 100 lists and some of them contain funny and interesting pieces of trivia about the show There were some lists that I did not particularly care for, but a lot of them were interesting and well thought out.

  5. Yosef Shapiro Yosef Shapiro says:

This is a fun book with lists that are based on the various versions of Star Trek from television and movies This book is not for non Trekkers You really need to know the shows and movies to appreciate the book As with all collections of lists, we don t always agree with what is on orimportantly what was left off the lists Let the debate begin

I have been a pretty big fan of Star Trek since I was a child, and this sounded right up my alley Although this isof a coffee table book to dip in and out of, I read this thing cover to cover Unfortunately the book was only okay for me a little entertaining but I wanted a bit .One thing that bothered me was that I knew that a few lists were incomplete, when the relevant episodes had been out for years before the release date of this book to be clear, I don t mind that as time goes I have been a pretty big fan of Star Trek since I was a child, and this sounded right up my alley Although this isof a coffee table book to dip in and out of, I read this thing cover to cover Unfortunately the book was only okay for me a little entertaining but I wanted a bit .One thing that bothered me was that I knew that a few lists were incomplete, when the relevant episodes had been out for years before the release date of this book to be clear, I don t mind that as time goes on some of the lists have become out of date I m fine with a snapshot in time.Another thing that bothered me was that there really ought to have beenpictures screenshots illustrating certain lists For other lists where there were pictures, there was a lack of captions for context.I think the difficulty with a book of lists is that a huge amount of research is needed to fill the small amount of real estate on the page this almost inevitably results in small mistakes as well as lack of useful detail Further, the difficulty with a book about Star Trek is that many fans have absorbed hundreds of hours of material and so have high expectations. As such, I am of the view that this book is probably best aimed at fans who aren t in too deep yet
