Too Late is an excruciating read that could not appease me in any way. When CoHo released this book, she suggested that this story would be a little edgier and darker than her other reads. It was, but mostly, Too Late was a melodramatic get together of underdeveloped characters and a ridiculous plot line. The story is about Sloan, a girl that is apparently very strong and unyielding, however, in my opinion, she comes across as a whiny doormat. There, I said it She has an abusive boyfriend, Asa, Too Late is an excruciating read that could not appease me in any way. There, I said it She has an abusive boyfriend, Asa, and she stays with him since he pays the bills for her brother s care He treats her poorly, he is violent and shows little redeeming qualities Nevertheless, she pretends it all is okay and stays with him for her brother s sake.I cannot comprehend why the main narrator does not find a job or whatever like a typical college student Why does she make herself dependable on this douche I still cannot grasp that idea. All changes when Carter comes in the picture with a few secrets of his own.Carter is the typical CoHo boy He is sweet and dramatic, he talks like a girl and he is quite boring.Sloan and Carter immediately fall in love and I am not exaggerating After one hour of being together, Carter cannot stop thinking about her and starts to ramble on and on about Sloan.I did not see the connection or even character development.Asa could not deliver a coherent sentence He went from bad boy to psychotic lunatic very fast.Sloan was this so called strong willed girl, although she was crying on almost every page.Carter did not have any personality whatsoever His only purpose was to be the sidekick of Sloan. The book was trying too hard to be offensive and edgy, but it did not work. There was too much telling and not enough showing, due to the missing character development.Invective words were thrown into this story like sugar in cake I do not have any problems with a bit swearing in books, but this was over the top It went like this Asa I want some motherfucking spaghetti Sloan I don t want to make you fucking spaghetti Asa Well, I don t fucking care Make me some fucking spaghetti Sloan wipes tears away Fine, here is your fucking spaghetti, you damned fucker O.oAnd let s not talk about that ending.0 stars

heres a discussion question for you all at what point are you allowed to negatively rate a work of fiction because there are certain aspects you morally disagree with additionally, at what point are you allowed to overlook those personal objections because the overall concept idea of the story is just so dang interesting this is the dilemma i am currently facing i love how dark this is sometimes it does feel like the story is trying too hard to be edgy, but wow i could not put this down t heres a discussion question for you all at what point are you allowed to negatively rate a work of fiction because there are certain aspects you morally disagree with additionally, at what point are you allowed to overlook those personal objections because the overall concept idea of the story is just so dang interesting this is the dilemma i am currently facing i love how dark this is sometimes it does feel like the story is trying too hard to be edgy, but wow i could not put this down the story is so gripping, i had to know what happened next i practically inhaled this in one sitting i mostly enjoyed carters character and the role he plays in the story his purpose and connection to sloan is what really makes this for me but overall, this is dramatic, its intense, its thrilling, and its very impressively different from CoHos main body of work but can all that allow me to forget that i cant stand the way mental illness is portrayed in this and hows its harmfully used as a plot device to further develop a certain character as a villain i am all for hating characters if they are large pieces of trash and have no redeemable qualities but i dont know if i can promote, even condone, a story which utilises the actions of an untreated mental illness as a way to get the reader to hate a character if anything, i just felt sad and sympathetic for them towards the end, hating the way the other characters treated him, instead so there you have it how am i supposed to positively rate a book that i really quite enjoyed but dont want to be too generous because there is one major flaw that my conscience wont allow me to overlook its so much better than 3 stars its at least a 4 , but i personally feel way too guilty with giving anything over that ughhh 3.5 stars

Find all of my reviews at I read that Too Late would be different than anything CoHo has ever written before my reaction was pretty muchI mean for real She just had a book released yesterday that stated the same thing and from what I ve heard so far it s the same angsty instalovey bullcrap with some kind of rip your heart out assuming that you, unlike me, actually have a heart plot twist and YASSSSS of course I ll still read the damn thing Find all of my reviews at I read that Too Late would be different than anything CoHo has ever written before my reaction was pretty muchI mean for real She just had a book released yesterday that stated the same thing and from what I ve heard so far it s the same angsty instalovey bullcrap with some kind of rip your heart out assuming that you, unlike me, actually have a heart plot twist and YASSSSS of course I ll still read the damn thing. But this This is what I wanted Fuck Love to be like Now here s the part where I offend everyone Ready When I saw the ginormously high rating I wasthan a bit worried this would not be the story for me Especially when I read the first page and it was all rapey, but somehow errrrrryone liked it anyway I still can t wrap my brain around it Normally Hoover s books fall under a pretty specific category Don t get your panties in a twist, I drink the effing Kool Aid just like the rest of you The exception to the rule so far has been Ugly Love yes, Shelby, I will name drop that book until either the day I die or until Nick Bateman shows up at my house begging me to make the sexuals with him whichever comes first TheI read porny books themy taste is becoming crystal clear I either like them to have a lot of funny ha ha mixed in or I like them to be dirty and gritty What can I say Too Late was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay darker than I thought it was possible for Hoover to go I mean, have you seen her She s farking adorable So let s get to the story finally, right Meet Asa Yeah, he s a real charmer Drug dealer, manbearpig, rapey everything a girl looks for in a dream man Sloan kind of sold her soul to the devil and has been with him for two years in order to make sure her special needs brother s assisted living facility is paid for She just has to make it to graduation so she can get out When Sloan meets Carter in class she indulges in the 50 minutes of normalcy he provides But when Carter shows up at their house as Asa s new partner, Sloan begins questioning whether or not decent men even exist any However, she can t deny their mutual attraction and theshe gets to know him, theshe realizes Carter isn t anything like Asa Where s that Kool Aid again Ah yes Thanks, Salvy Like I said, I MOTHERF ING LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED THIS So much so that I never got my fat ass up from the computer from the time I started to the time I finished I didn t find the twist to be very twisty probably due to it being the driving storyline behind one of my teenage obsessions , but I m not sure it was even supposed to be a surprise My brain still can t process the fact that this came out of Colleen Hoover Who knew she could be kind of a badassFunny I didn t peg you as a doormat Funny I didn t peg you for a dealer I guess I do have that going for me Dealer Check Asshole Check What else would it take, Sloan What else do I need to do to get you to fuck me You want me to slap you around a little bit Seems to work wonders for Asa Fuck you No thanks Apparently I d have to hit you first, and that s not my styleAll the stars And the best thing IT COSTS ZERO DOLLARS The only recommendation I have Stop reading at the end of Chapter 45 because that is where the perfection stops There s a good chance that the average Hoover fan will be totally put off by the time they finish the two epilogues and the prologue At minimum you ll realize they definitely don t add anything to the story.THIS review is the exact opposite of mine, but oh my god talk about hilarious I want to be her friend.ORIGINAL REVIEW This book begins with the female lead being woken up by her boyfriend having sex with her and then stating I m nothingthan a prisoner in my own bed, and he s the warden of the bedroom Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooookay I think I need to put this aside for a minute until I can wrap my brain around how all of the fangirls who are offended and triggered by errrrrrrrrything somehow don t have a problem with this The CoHo Kool Aid most definitely must be the strongest blend, that s for sure

Here s the another thing with Asa he gets off by placing fear into other, mainly Sloan He even likes it when she cries during sex WTF Crazy ass motherfucker I wish my mother wasn t a whore I wish she would stop lying, so she wouldn t get in trouble so much I don t like watching her get in trouble Daddy says it s good for me, though He says if I want to grow up and be a man, I need to see what a woman look like when she cries Daddy says a woman s tears make men weak, and theI see their tears when I m younger, the less I ll believe their lies when I m older. That s a fucked up thing to learn as a child. So what is love How should one be loved Who the fuck knows.Sloan found out what love wasn t after meeting Luke She realized that she never truly loved Asa and Asa s version of love was unhealthyI never met anyone who bringsrelief to my life than they do stress Until Luke.Love shouldn t feel like added weight It should make you feel as light as air.Asa made everything in my life heavy.Luck makes me feel like I m floating.I guess that s the difference between being loved the right way and the wrong way You either feel tethered to an anchor.or you feel like you re flying. view spoiler Sloan is having a baby and she doesn t know who the daddy is I hoped it was Luke s baby But my hopes and dreams feel when I found out Asa was tampering with Sloan s birth control pills Asa wanted Sloan to be pregnant because he figured there was no way she would leave him if they had a baby together. But Luke was so fucking awesome, he didn t care if it was his baby or not, all he knew was that the baby was apart of Sloan and that was enough I wish she knew that whether or not those test results would prove that this baby is biologically a part of me or a pat of Asa, it changes nothing I don t love this child like I do because I have a biological responsibility to love hime I love this child because I m human and I can t help it I love him because I m his dad. He never had a DNA, he didn t want one hide spoiler For my complete unfiltered review.https prettymessreading.wordpress.cFollow all my crazy.Instagram
