The Akiko series are adventure stories about a girl who goes on a bunch of dangerous, world threatening adventures with unusual aliens around the universe The Journey to Toog is awesome because Akiko goes to rescue her friend Poog the Tooglian s home planet even though he tells them not to come They end up getting into a bunch of trouble with Tri yarms three armed aliens and Poog s Great Uncle Zeem This book was fun because it always has you anticipating something.

I learned you should never abandon what other people ask you to do Poog was not supposed to know the other characters so that he could become an elder on Toog Tooglians can get to be 500 years old Elders are supposed to go on a 100 year meditation alone, but he got bored and abandoned it But then his planet was in trouble so he had to go back, then he made his friends mad and was in trouble It has a very happy ending.

The bad guy s monster art is some of the creepiest imagery I ve seen in a book for elementary aged readers ever Poog, though Poog is like the teflon character Any deception or botched origin story just slides right off Poog is amazing.
