There were good moments There were things I liked about it But the main male character was kind of a douche Get rid of him and the book gets an extra star Rewrite the ending and it will probably get another star.

Terri L Austin is a new to me author I was not sure what to expect or what was in store for me I picked up Dispelled because the blurb very much caught my eye I ve never heard or read a book with a character that cancels out everything around them She is a freak of nature an abomination to the magical and shifter community, at least in their eyes To say she is not liked, is an understatement Holly, is one tough women I felt so much for her We learn about her family a few surprises in Terri L Austin is a new to me author I was not sure what to expect or what was in store for me I picked up Dispelled because the blurb very much caught my eye I ve never heard or read a book with a character that cancels out everything around them She is a freak of nature an abomination to the magical and shifter community, at least in their eyes To say she is not liked, is an understatement Holly, is one tough women I felt so much for her We learn about her family a few surprises in this area, what it means to be a null not good, and feel the loneliness she goes through It s hard for her to accept that maybe, just maybe she can haveCade her love interest was arrogant, broody, and mysterious, but in a fun way The banter and sexual tension is strong between them I like that in the end he doesn t walk away and wants to build something with Holly I m curious to see how this budding romance will develop The secondary characters we meet along the way are all interesting and unique in their own way I like her assistant friend and of course she pisses off a few magical creatures who in the end may or may not be allies in the future.I was blown away, sucked in, and taken on a magical mystery I loved all the characters and I loved the mystery I had no idea who was helping and who was doing what until everything was revealed Your mind keeps turn along with Holly who wants to solve this mystery not for herself, but for those that lost their life and closer on another issue The mystery will suck you in.The only thing I wish and this isn t a complaint since it s up to each author to decide, but I would have loved a dual perspective I desperately desperately want Cade s perspective I wanted needed to know what that moody and broody man was thinking I am excited to see that this will be a series I look forward toHolly and Cade and the extended cast of characters I had a mind blowing and phenomenal time reading Dispelled. Not a particularly good book, a mashup of matebond romance without a bond, just the senseless at first sight love and a UF classic plot The lack of strong elements really marred the story bland characterization, bland world building, a lack of a tight plot mysterywise.

I ve never read a book by Terri Austin so I wasn t sure what was in store for me with this one From the blurb, I knew it was a paranormal romance my favorite and that the hero was broody and mysterious also my favorite I m so happy I took a chance on this new to me author This was such an amazing read This novel tells the story of Holly James, a Null, or a non magical person who zaps the magic from others in the paranormal community including witches, vampires, werewolves and sorcere I ve never read a book by Terri Austin so I wasn t sure what was in store for me with this one From the blurb, I knew it was a paranormal romance my favorite and that the hero was broody and mysterious also my favorite I m so happy I took a chance on this new to me author This was such an amazing read This novel tells the story of Holly James, a Null, or a non magical person who zaps the magic from others in the paranormal community including witches, vampires, werewolves and sorcerers , rendering them powerless just by being in close proximity to them This ability makes her public enemy number one She is partnered with an arrogant sorcerer, Cade McAllister, to solve the murder of two young witches who died under mysterious circumstances.I absolutely LOVED this book It was such a pleasant surprise Holly was so down to earth, funny and snarky and Cade was everything I loved in a hero broody, grouchy, arrogant, rude and kind of an a hole I know I know Give me allll the mean boys I love them I can t help it He was absolutely so fantastic protective, possessive, alpha and so caring when Holly got under his skin A definite winner One thing I will say, and this isn t even a complaint because it is up to each author whether or not they include it in their book , is that I wish this book had dual perspective point of view Badly I needed Cade s perspective and actually missed it At each chapter s end, I found myself hoping that the next chapter would open to his perspective I NEEDED to know what that moody and grouchy man was thinking I wanted in his head What was his first impression of Holly What did he think of her Was he drawn to her as she was to him He was SUCH a broody and sexy character that I wantedfrom this man Again, just a personal preference but I did feel that it took away from my enjoyment a little. All in all, I m super excited that the story will continue into a series I look forward tobooks with Holly and Cade and the extended cast of characters And hello I NEEDa Mick book He is the perfect combination of being deliciously dark and sexy with a hint of heart Ratula, 4.5 Stars

I was not thrilled with this read, it didn t wrap me up in it s world.Holly was just ok At first I felt like we were being handed a strong, independent, feisty heroine I believe this started and stopped at feisty, and this was only offered on occasion Holly was very superficial in the beginning, and that offered an unnecessary distraction When reading a story about a character that is NOT involved in fashion, I have no interest in what handbag she is taking with her to prove whatever point s I was not thrilled with this read, it didn t wrap me up in it s world.Holly was just ok At first I felt like we were being handed a strong, independent, feisty heroine I believe this started and stopped at feisty, and this was only offered on occasion Holly was very superficial in the beginning, and that offered an unnecessary distraction When reading a story about a character that is NOT involved in fashion, I have no interest in what handbag she is taking with her to prove whatever point she believes a fashion designer handbag would prove On top of her need to make a statement, I felt as though she cowered to Cade, like she was at his whim Almost as if he had some sort of hold on her This all would have made sense had she not been a null He could have had some power over her to explain the sudden and over the top attraction to him Even the tension between them seemed forced and rushed They hate each other why are they talking sex It was as if there should have been some back story provided first, some history between the two characters SOMETHING I needed , and I simply did not receive it.I believe the concept for this book was very good, the idea of having a character that can nullify magic is fantastic Werewolves that can t transition, vampires that can t bite, witches that can t cast spells, Shifters that can t shift The idea of having opossums as Shifters did make me chuckle I really enjoyed a lot of the options that this books offered Auras and spelled objects, blood magic, and spell signatures The possessiveness and protectiveness of vampires and werewolves There were a lot of positives about this one, it just did not come together for me, and the characters were not likeable Sorry to say, this one truly was just not for me

This book was totally meh to me It is also yet another example of why names matter I ve known a few authors who really struggle over naming their characters And, I frequently complain about namesWhen you start a series, you are getting to know people Just like when you go to a partywe rarely remember the names of everyone we meet When you write a book and toss names at us, they need to work in the context And, we need to not confuse them with someone or something else This book was totally meh to me It is also yet another example of why names matter I ve known a few authors who really struggle over naming their characters And, I frequently complain about namesWhen you start a series, you are getting to know people Just like when you go to a partywe rarely remember the names of everyone we meet When you write a book and toss names at us, they need to work in the context And, we need to not confuse them with someone or something else We also need to be able to pronounce them and associate them with individual charactersbut I digressSo The dead girl s name is London Every single time I read that name, I heard an accent in my head had to re read the sentence because I kept seeing city not person Every single time I realize this is petty and I may be the only person on the planet that this affected this way but it did And, it diminished my enjoyment of the story Sorry But there it is Also The leading male character enters the story a jerk Straight up jerkiness Uses threats of making the heroine enjoy sex to get her to tell him what he wants to know Seriously Who writes this stuff But, he is such a jerk, why is sex even on the table Not literally on the tableHe does lighten up as the story continues, but why do we have this sex nonsense so early on in the story and the relationship The prologue of the story totally captured me From there, I purchased it Whole thing was turned upside down once the story actually started VERY disappointing to me I would definitely have loved to seeof the relationship between Sunny and Holly I felt like the ball was dropped on that one In the end probably 2.5 stars which I m making 3 because it doesn t feel like a 2 star read to me

An interesting world, magic users, vampires werewolves exist along with the protagonist who can nullify all their magic Weres can t shift, Vampires are human around her and magic doesn t work when she is in the vicinity The characters are pretty good, the MC Holly was a little annoying in the first half of the book with her obsession with hand bags but happily that seemed to diminish as the book went along I ll read the next book in the series if the author releases one.

This is the first book of Terri Austin s that I am reading, and I wasn t quite sure about what to expect.I had originally thought it would be a run of the mill paranormal urban fantasy book, but with a really unique main character. This book surpassed my expectations and really pulled me in.We usually come across vampires, werewolves, witches and fae, but a main character who cancels out other s magical powers and abilities is something we ve never seen before Holly is a null as I mentioned above.S This is the first book of Terri Austin s that I am reading, and I wasn t quite sure about what to expect.I had originally thought it would be a run of the mill paranormal urban fantasy book, but with a really unique main character. This book surpassed my expectations and really pulled me in.We usually come across vampires, werewolves, witches and fae, but a main character who cancels out other s magical powers and abilities is something we ve never seen before Holly is a null as I mentioned above. She nullifies the magic around her and renders other magic users powerless. This has caused her to be feared and hated by Others since her birth. But she doesn t let it bother her.She has turned the very thing that sets her apart into an asset and she sells her services as a Null for a price as many situations require a Null. Her mom disappeared while she was young and she never knew her father. Her grandmom is the one who brought her up, sacrificing a lot.One day, out of the blue, her estranged grandfather contacts her and requests her help in solving the murder of a young witch that involves really dangerous dark magic and in return he ll help her find her mom.The only thing is she will have to help the arrogant, rude and sexy as hell sorcerer Cade McAllister who is the investigator on the case. But he doesn t want her interference or help. Not one to let something like this stop her, Holly forges ahead in her investigation gaining new friends and many enemies.Add in the fact that the sexual tension between her and Cade could be cut with a knife, and the possibility that someone might be trying to kill her, Holly has one hell of a ride ahead I absolutely loved the world building and the characters in the novel Holly was a kickass main character sarcastic, witty, brave but prone to make mistakes due to impatience at times.Cade was really infuriating in the beginning but he grew on me.The chemistry between them was off the charts And certain scenes were so hot and panty melting fans self The secondary characters like Mick,Sunny and many others were well fleshed out.The mystery and suspense was really compelling. It had me turning the pages impatiently to figure out what would happen I was quite sad by the time I reached the end and I really hope the next book in the series comes out soon I m rooting for Holly and Cade, and even though their relationship between them is awesome there are a lot of practical challenges due to Holly s inherent nature and I would love to see how they overcome them
