I m glad I ended up finally reading this off iBooks It was a quick, fun read and I thoroughly enjoyed it The concept was really interesting and unique I thought it could have used a bitdevelopment though, there were so many questions left unanswered for me I did still very much enjoy it though

I had to push myself to finish this book It sounded intriguing from the book description hinting at a fantasy romance between an ice witch and a god of revenge who drags her into his world I ended up being really disappointed I didn t like the main character Lilly although i really wanted to I love the idea of her being a dormant ice witch who awakens to her powers However, what I actually got was a woman who spent almost the entire book afraid or anxious or being a quivering wreck that did I had to push myself to finish this book It sounded intriguing from the book description hinting at a fantasy romance between an ice witch and a god of revenge who drags her into his world I ended up being really disappointed I didn t like the main character Lilly although i really wanted to I love the idea of her being a dormant ice witch who awakens to her powers However, what I actually got was a woman who spent almost the entire book afraid or anxious or being a quivering wreck that didn t understand anything that was happening to or around her as the story just happened to her I felt this could have been avoided if the entire book was spread over a larger time frame than just 3 4 days, so that she d have time to adjust and learn and build up her strength and knowledge rather than get a very uninformative crash course that left her confused the majority of the time. The romance was nonexistent in my opinion, other than her seeing a few soft expressions every now and then it just wasn t there to me I wanted to seeof her witch side but because of the bangles she was forced to wear she never got to try and figure out her powers properly She was left being a character constantly asking questions and not getting a lot of answers, just being left to somehow work out this new world she had been thrown into all by herself The story itself was incredibly confusing to me and some of the decisions that the characters made throughout this book were just so unbelievable it made it even harder to continue to the end spoiler alert from this point on.Some parts in the book that i didn t like or understand 1 She wakes up the next day after getting the contract and is expected to get to work immediately without anyone explaining anything to her She s handed a magic gun and is told to go get the job done Go get this MAGIC HITMAN SERIAL KILLER WHO HAS KILLED OVER 35 PEOPLE by yourself, also don t kill him She hasn t fired a gun before and hasn t even been told what getting shot by the magic gun will even do to a person Vali also tells her to use her magic to catch him, which A she doesn t know how to and B she can t even if she did know how due to the magical bangles he forbids her from removing She actually asks him how she is supposed to use magic if she has to wear the bangles and he just ignores the question and only tells her why the hitman needs capturing instead 2 WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY would Vali take her instead of Megan to go take down Hank when she has no clue whatsoever how to use her magic still and therefore couldn t possibly do anything useful whatsoever to aid in taking down what is supposed to be one of the toughest king pins in the city I don t care if Megan is too close to this to go, they mentioned higher up sinner detective teams contracted to Vali so why couldn t any of them go Why did it HAVE to be Lilly All she ended up doing was get them both captured Even if he absolutely HAD to take Lilly, why not take backup It just made zero sense 3 They got captured shock and she lucked out figuring how to awaken her powers, managed to break out of the bracelets containing her power, only to pick them up and PUT THEM BACK ON She says she does this to buy hertime and because Vali wouldn t be happy if she lost them She s glowing with symbols and is freezing everything around her as she walks but she thinks these bangles will buy her time Bangles she knew full well wouldn t work any Ok Also, yeah Vali is reeealllyyy going to care if you lost your bangles trying to save his life and where did she draw the conclusion that this is the only pair he has It was never mentioned that these were the only ones This decision not only makes no sense, but also leads to Hank using these against her to lock in her power when she finally walks into the room he s in She knew he could put a spell on her bracelets he literally had done just that before he captured her so again I ask why did she put them back on Overall, in my opinion it wasn t a great story, both Vali s confusing double personality shifting self with questionable actions and Lilly s crippling fear turned curiosity turned anxious and scared self, were enough to ruin any potential this story had for me It also left me with a lot of unanswered questions, such as how did she supposedly cause her Grandmothers death Why did she have dormant ice powers What did Franklin do to that made him Vali s vessel These questions are probably answered later on in this series but I personally won t be reading on to find out

Very fast read Honestly the story line would have been fine if not for the confusing mess happening How can you throw a rookie that just learned of magic, has absolutely no idea how to use hers or even what hers is, and has no no detective or fighting experience whatsoever in these scenarios Every question she asked is met with either vagueness or disdain No one is leading her through anything just expecting her to know things How as the reader are we even to know wth is going on when even Very fast read Honestly the story line would have been fine if not for the confusing mess happening How can you throw a rookie that just learned of magic, has absolutely no idea how to use hers or even what hers is, and has no no detective or fighting experience whatsoever in these scenarios Every question she asked is met with either vagueness or disdain No one is leading her through anything just expecting her to know things How as the reader are we even to know wth is going on when even the main character can t get any answers Absolutely no world building whatsoever, no backstory either To be honest even though I thought Lily was kind of a whiney FMC I m totally on the same page as her when she says she doesn t understand why she is even indentured in the first place Without explaining Vali tells Lili she is responsible for her grandmothers death..huh Nope, done with this gave me a headache just trying to wrap my head around it

2nd DNF of the year, 7th Feb.DNF at page 43.The writing style of this book is soo boring and not gripping It s about Lily who works in a catering company and in the party that she is in for work she meet the famous Franklin and then from then on the story kinda happen Honestly I was annoyed by the writing style and how it kept going on and on even though this is a tiny book 180 pages Further, I didn t like how repetitive some parts were like Lily was repeating how Franklin looks like, 2nd DNF of the year, 7th Feb.DNF at page 43.The writing style of this book is soo boring and not gripping It s about Lily who works in a catering company and in the party that she is in for work she meet the famous Franklin and then from then on the story kinda happen Honestly I was annoyed by the writing style and how it kept going on and on even though this is a tiny book 180 pages Further, I didn t like how repetitive some parts were like Lily was repeating how Franklin looks like, how her anxiety was when she was a kid Saying that she has anxiety and then goes to find out what Franklin and Larry were doing Overall, not an exciting read I mean the idea is nice about a revenge god and a witch and all but how everything was put together especially since this is a short book I don t think some of things should be dragged on

Talented first draftThe author shows a lot of potential, but this is not publication worthy Every important statement the characters make is repeated five times verbatim, and she rarely gives the reader information or rules The driver says nothing to her, and later when the author wants to retroactively produce information, she says the driver handed her a slip of paper No he didn t We were watching the whole time, begging for just such a scrap The promised manual and induction never appear Talented first draftThe author shows a lot of potential, but this is not publication worthy Every important statement the characters make is repeated five times verbatim, and she rarely gives the reader information or rules The driver says nothing to her, and later when the author wants to retroactively produce information, she says the driver handed her a slip of paper No he didn t We were watching the whole time, begging for just such a scrap The promised manual and induction never appear She somehow crosses town with no explanation by using stairs to appear somewhere we don t know Major characters never get a description Watch RIPD instead It follows rules

I couldn t finish it It seemed as if it was written by two different writers some parts very well developed with characters dept and a nice writing style, some others were boring with the characters flat as cardboard. After a while I lost my interest and I stopped reading I am not going to continue the series
