I knew I had this book on my kindle, and knew this author wrote action thrillers, well about time I tried this author.I am very glad I did in the action packed ,fast paced thriller, a prequel to start this series a nive quick read of 171 pagesA deadly assassin A perpetual target A double cross she never saw coming They say the truth will set you free, but what if it kills you first Leine Basso eliminates terrorists for a living After a routine assassination almost gets her killed, she c I knew I had this book on my kindle, and knew this author wrote action thrillers, well about time I tried this author.I am very glad I did in the action packed ,fast paced thriller, a prequel to start this series a nive quick read of 171 pagesA deadly assassin A perpetual target A double cross she never saw coming They say the truth will set you free, but what if it kills you first Leine Basso eliminates terrorists for a living After a routine assassination almost gets her killed, she chalks it up to a fluke Her lover and fellow assassin, Carlos, has another idea altogether He thinks their boss is setting them up for a fall. When Carlos goes missing and a bombing thwarts another mission, Leine suspects the stakes are far higher than she could ever imagine, and wonders if the man in charge might have it in for her after all.Leine is a kick ass sassy, tough but realistic and human, and this story starts the story fantastically, explaining the whole story. This story is fast paced, action packed blockbuster of a thriller, with a hint of humour, romance and well as realistic action, shocks, and real twists and the start of a great new character.Another author to follow, in fact downloaded all four Leine Basso books and now on the next storyHope this standard continues A clear four star book Very nearly a five star

I received an advance ARC from the author for my review and I also purchased it from .With A Killing Truth , D.V Berkom gives you everything but the kitchen sink, the Prequel has it all and although the ending bummed me out. This was my style of book, love the fast pace, dig the tension filled moments, like all the action filled drama, full of suspense, your almost on a roller coaster with all the twists and turns, excellent cast of characters and a conclusion that I would have done d I received an advance ARC from the author for my review and I also purchased it from .With A Killing Truth , D.V Berkom gives you everything but the kitchen sink, the Prequel has it all and although the ending bummed me out. This was my style of book, love the fast pace, dig the tension filled moments, like all the action filled drama, full of suspense, your almost on a roller coaster with all the twists and turns, excellent cast of characters and a conclusion that I would have done different Leine Basso s on a hit in Eastern Europe, when she realizes that Igor Glushenko knows what s about to happen and she s been set up Luckly her boyfriend Carlos creating a diversion, that enables her to escape, by shooting her way out and killing three would be assissins Carlos makes her aware that their boss Eric, trying to set them up to kill them and has hidden away evidence of it You ll have to read it to know the rest of the story but I will say that the ending kind of easy and I would have had the two doing a hit on Eric Have them realize, one was being sent after the other So they team up, then go after Eric take him out were he knows they did it, without other witnesses and feed him to the Sharks off ther Carolina coast A Killing Truth would make an excellent introduction to D.V Berkom s writing, she one of my favorites, love how she just puts you right in the pages and you just don t want to end

I ve read four Leine Basso thrillers Yes, I love them Actually, I love HER she s a sassy, kick arse, no nonsense, I ll eat your balls for breakfast type of woman And at the same time, she s a mum and a lover, with all the usual ups and downs those things entail She simply rocks Now, I have to admit, I m not that fussed with prequels Why bother with what s gone before, if you know what happens afterwards, I ve always thought But Berkom is not only a talented writer, she s a canny one Thro I ve read four Leine Basso thrillers Yes, I love them Actually, I love HER she s a sassy, kick arse, no nonsense, I ll eat your balls for breakfast type of woman And at the same time, she s a mum and a lover, with all the usual ups and downs those things entail She simply rocks Now, I have to admit, I m not that fussed with prequels Why bother with what s gone before, if you know what happens afterwards, I ve always thought But Berkom is not only a talented writer, she s a canny one Throughout each Basso thriller, there are crumbs tantalising crumbs of her history as an assassin and her former dead lover Enough to pique your interest and want to find out what brought her to her present life A dangerous one A very dangerous one did Leine was excellent at her job, so when assignments started not going quite to plan, she began to wonder if her lover and fellow assassin , Carlos, was right to suspect that their boss might be selling them out And her own doubts turned to concern and dread when Carlos appeared to be completely uncontactable.Berkom s books are ones when you almost forget to breathe They re fast paced, taut with tension and sheer joy from start to finish I m never sadder than when I read those two little words The End I can t get enough of Basso, or of Berkom s writing, and I m always left with an enormous problem of what to read next she s a hard act to follow

This is another exciting Leine Basso Thriller but it takes place before the rest of the series and gives an insight into what made Leine into the person she is today Leine is an expert assassin but after almost getting killed on an assignment, her lover, Carlos, thinks someone set her up their boss, Eric Carlos believes their boss is trying to get them killed and hiding any evidence When Leine s assassination job gets messed up because of Ilya who was attempting to assassinate the same targ This is another exciting Leine Basso Thriller but it takes place before the rest of the series and gives an insight into what made Leine into the person she is today Leine is an expert assassin but after almost getting killed on an assignment, her lover, Carlos, thinks someone set her up their boss, Eric Carlos believes their boss is trying to get them killed and hiding any evidence When Leine s assassination job gets messed up because of Ilya who was attempting to assassinate the same target, she came up with another plan It was a little hard to carry out, though, because she had decided to keep Ilya with her She felt she was better off letting him work with her so that she could keep an eye on him and make sure he didn t causetrouble Which she was sure he would do if left on his own I have always love Leine It is so great to have a strong, capable female protagonist in a story but her skills go beyond being capable Since I loved the other books in this series, I was looking forward to reading this While this was a good book, I found it a bit confusing at times and didn t always know who was being talked about especially near the end which is why I gave it 3.5 stars

If you ve read the books in the Leine Basso series that have come out prior to this, you know a lot about her history That she worked as an assassin for a quasi official government agency was always clear That she no longer did was also clear And at least to me it seemed that her feelings about her history were ambiguous, with some pride and some regret. This book is a prequel, coming before any of the main series It takes place near the end of Leine s time as an assassin It works as a stand If you ve read the books in the Leine Basso series that have come out prior to this, you know a lot about her history That she worked as an assassin for a quasi official government agency was always clear That she no longer did was also clear And at least to me it seemed that her feelings about her history were ambiguous, with some pride and some regret. This book is a prequel, coming before any of the main series It takes place near the end of Leine s time as an assassin It works as a standalone thriller, with an intense, edge of your seat story However, those who know Leine from the main series will come to understand her that much better after reading A Killing Truth And while I may be readinginto it than was intended, I think the way this book ended there may be another prequel in the future Maybethan one Originally written for Books and Pals book blog May have received a free review copy
