This is actually two books in one Part I takes up 44% of the book on my kindle, and it is a variation on Pride and Prejudice which picks up the story where Elizabeth and Darcy have encountered each other while she is touring Pemberley with her Aunt and Uncle Gardiner The letters written by Jane to Elizabeth announcing the crisis with Lydia and Wickham are delayed, so events unfold differently and lead to tragedy As a result, with Darcy s great wealth and his financial support for scientific r This is actually two books in one Part I takes up 44% of the book on my kindle, and it is a variation on Pride and Prejudice which picks up the story where Elizabeth and Darcy have encountered each other while she is touring Pemberley with her Aunt and Uncle Gardiner The letters written by Jane to Elizabeth announcing the crisis with Lydia and Wickham are delayed, so events unfold differently and lead to tragedy As a result, with Darcy s great wealth and his financial support for scientific research into allowing people to be frozen and then reanimated at a future time, he is able to make arrangements for Elizabeth and himself to be subjects. In Part II, both are awakened in 2012, roughly 200 years after they were first frozen This describes their reaction and adaptation to modern society as well as the progress of their romance, leading to a beautiful winter wedding at Pemberley.Part I is a much stronger book than Part II Part I has a better constructed plot roughly described above , with drama and unanticipated twists in the original story which I won t reveal indetail because it would spoil things for readers The emphasis is on action rather than romance.Part II sweeps all difficulties away, so it s rather bland and predictable There are no medical problems for either of them with the reanimation process Darcy has made brilliant arrangements for the handling of his money, and apparently his bankers through the many generations have all been honest, because he is still one of the wealthiest men in Great Britain He also retains ownership of Pemberley, with Georgiana s descendants only residing in the property as caretakers Of course, he and Elizabeth miss the family they left behind, but there are some surprises in that department because they actually haven t left ALL their family behind there are some that chose to follow them in the 2 century hibernation and are revived shortly after the couple The imaginative twist here is the pleasant surprise concerning those who join them, but even that isn t difficult to anticipate once they are revived There are also piles of letters preserved from the past, so they are able to receive direct communication from all those long deceased loved ones None of their families descendants question their identities or create any difficulty for them The modern residents of Pemberley don t resent handing over the keys, so to speak, to Darcy No one else pursues either Darcy or Elizabeth romantically There s no Caroline Bingley, no Lady Catherine, no Mr Collins, no Mr Wickham there isn t a single antagonist or conflict in sight Part II does have muchin the romance department, since Darcy and Elizabeth have not yet come to an understanding when Part I ends, but there is never a doubt that this is leading to happily ever after without any complications The writing is generally good but uneven There are many instances of stilted, unnatural sounding dialogue throughout the entire book that gets pretty sappy at times I applaud the creativity of the original idea and the first part of the story, but once Darcy and Elizabeth awaken in a new century, the plot really needs something to spice it up

I absolutely loved the first half of this book finding the twist really original and moving The second part of the book I found paced completely differently with Darcy and Eliza reaching their happy ever after but I just felt there was something lacking after loving the first part so much Everything seemed to be achieved in quick time and we didn t really learn much about Lizzy and Darcy s journey in their new lives they just seemed to adapt, I think I expected a littlehumour in some un I absolutely loved the first half of this book finding the twist really original and moving The second part of the book I found paced completely differently with Darcy and Eliza reaching their happy ever after but I just felt there was something lacking after loving the first part so much Everything seemed to be achieved in quick time and we didn t really learn much about Lizzy and Darcy s journey in their new lives they just seemed to adapt, I think I expected a littlehumour in some unfamiliar situations I would have loved to have seen illustrations of the wedding scenes I would like to have given it 3.5 really

Debbie wrote an excellent review this story is told in two segments, centuries apart and while the first follows canon fairly well up to the pivotal moment of crisis, the second is rather predictable If you have any imagination you will find few surprises in how a person or people adjust to life two centuries after they fall asleep are frozen in time Yes, a tragedy occurs when Wickham and Lydia are tracked down but wonder of wonders, Darcy has just coincidently invested in the science of fr Debbie wrote an excellent review this story is told in two segments, centuries apart and while the first follows canon fairly well up to the pivotal moment of crisis, the second is rather predictable If you have any imagination you will find few surprises in how a person or people adjust to life two centuries after they fall asleep are frozen in time Yes, a tragedy occurs when Wickham and Lydia are tracked down but wonder of wonders, Darcy has just coincidently invested in the science of freezing subjects cryogenics to then reawaken them after a period of time So some of our beloved characters, with or without their consent, are in suspended life forms And there are several surprises in that when we travel to 2012 I also found little suspense or romance in the second part of this novel Darcy does get a chance to make a second proposal but it seems he is the only one who has any hesitation as to just getting it done He wonders if love can stand fast after 200 years Here I found the words of the one doctor to hold so much truth Time doesn t stand still We don t know how much it allotted to us So get on with it I thought there would be some spice with the wedding but no There were moments of nostalgia with letters from the past, with learning of loved ones lives and offspring And the author sets a lovely scene describing a winter wedding set at Pemberley, even if it is difficult to imagine venturing outside in freezing temperatures A certain teenager, Katie, did remind me a little of Lydia in that she was so eager to bring time travelers up to date on some very personal subjects, i.e., contraception And we must smile at certain old timers who seem to have so much in common and actually are seen flirting a bit of comedy here This is not a long read and it was an enjoyable diversion as its premise was one I have not yet read although time traveling variations are not totally new I actually wavered between a 3.5 and a 4 on this so decided to go with the higher mark in the end

I had read another book that had a different take on the original Pride and Prejudice story which has a movie coming out this year , but in that case I consider ita parody of the original. In this case, however, the sci fi element that author Denise O Hara added to the story gave it a unique touch and, as she mentions, is meant to be believably scientific.Without giving anyway a major plot twist, through unusual circumstances, Darcy and Elizabeth will find out if their love is truly strong I had read another book that had a different take on the original Pride and Prejudice story which has a movie coming out this year , but in that case I consider ita parody of the original. In this case, however, the sci fi element that author Denise O Hara added to the story gave it a unique touch and, as she mentions, is meant to be believably scientific.Without giving anyway a major plot twist, through unusual circumstances, Darcy and Elizabeth will find out if their love is truly strong enough to stand the test of time, bringing them into the present where they will face several ordeals I also found the book an easy read and breezed through the pages, which did not happen to me when I read the original, perhaps because this version has something out of the ordinary which captures my attention much .In all, a fun read and an interesting take on a classic novel

Loved it Spoilers Goodness gracious this was such an amazing story I loved the unexpected twists It was fascinating to read about Darcy and Elizabeth s introduction to 2012 and all the things in it I laughed at Darcy mulling over the mystery of the mobile and why people were obsessed And oh I just adored the pairing of Mr Bennett and Georgiana. It was too adorable reading about them hanging out together, enjoying companionship What a wonderful story

starsFirst of all, I have to say that I did not know the premise of this book, and because I didn t know anything about it, I was completely caught by surprise in a very positive way at least 2 times I was literally expressing out loud something like no way.Getting completely caught by surprise was one of the best things in this book for me I never thought this could happen to me in a JAFF book, but I was completely amazed at how the story develop starsFirst of all, I have to say that I did not know the premise of this book, and because I didn t know anything about it, I was completely caught by surprise in a very positive way at least 2 times I was literally expressing out loud something like no way.Getting completely caught by surprise was one of the best things in this book for me I never thought this could happen to me in a JAFF book, but I was completely amazed at how the story developed. So, if like me you don t know the story of the book yet, I would suggest not reading this review because it will have spoilers and I think it will take great part of the fun for you Unless you don t mind spoilers at all, in that case, be my guest Darcy and Elizabeth Timeless has one of the most interesting beginnings I have ever seen in a JAFF book It is a very different beginning because it doesn t start with Darcy and Elizabeth, but with a minor character, the boy who is delivering Jane s letters to Elizabeth when she is staying at Lambton The boy is ill and gets there later than in the original plot, so that givestime for Elizabeth to know Mr Darcy This begging was not only an interesting detail but also written in a powerful way, and I truly enjoyed it.After receiving the letters from Jane, Elizabeth travels to London with Mr and Mrs Gardiner, and in town they receive a visit from Mr Darcy, who has in the meantime discovered the whereabouts of Wickham and Lydia A most unexpected event takes place, and during a confrontation with Wickham, Elizabeth is fatally wounded I was really astonished while reading this, after all, there is no Pride and Prejudice without Elizabeth And this was when Denise O Hara surprised me yet again. When we all though Elizabeth would die, we discover Mr Darcy s family has been investing through decades in medicine, and their investigators had discovered how to develop cryogenics, so Elizabeth is frozen to give her a chance to survive until medicine is developed enough to save her from her wound. This was one of the biggest surprises I have ever seen in a book, and I was not expecting it at all.For me it is hard to believe that cryogenics had been developed, but medicine was not advanced enough so save someone from a gunshot wound, but I was able to abstract from that because I really liked this idea and it s originality. After Elizabeth is frozen the other characters continue with their lives, but Mr Darcy is unable to live without Elizabeth so he subjects himself to the cryogenic state as well, and this is when a completely different part in the book begins. They remain in that state for 200 years and are awaken in 2012 At this point we see them struggle to understand the modern world and how different everything is To be honest, I would have liked to see this part a littledeveloped, but I know Mrs O Hara is working on a sequel for this book, so I m guessing this is something she will explore better in the upcoming book I m very curious about it, and would pretty much like to read it once it comes out. But, continuing with Darcy and Elizabeth Timeless, I liked to see how the characters adapted to this world, and I agree with Mrs O Hara regarding who would facedifficulties in this task Mr Darcy and Elizabeth are not the only main characters from Pride and Prejudice we will see living in 2012, and I m sure that in this book we found a couple that we will never find in any other JAFF book. This was a very original plot that captivated me, and I enjoyed reading it very much I would only add a littleromance to it as I felt the lack of it, even if the death of Elizabeth was one of the most touching scenes I ever read
