Hooray for a newer and darker and bolder Red Hood Beware werewolves, Giselle is out for your blood In this Hoods series by Carl Waters, the reader is introduced to Angeline, the original Red Hood and her two competing daughters, Adela and Allison Her decision to bestow the enchanted red hood to the rightful heir crushed her, but it must be done soon, because danger was lurking, especially when one of the Hoods died in the arms and fangs of a mighty vampire. We also get a glimpse of the present Hooray for a newer and darker and bolder Red Hood Beware werewolves, Giselle is out for your blood In this Hoods series by Carl Waters, the reader is introduced to Angeline, the original Red Hood and her two competing daughters, Adela and Allison Her decision to bestow the enchanted red hood to the rightful heir crushed her, but it must be done soon, because danger was lurking, especially when one of the Hoods died in the arms and fangs of a mighty vampire. We also get a glimpse of the present Red Hood Giselle, whose mother died in the arms of her sister Giselle had always wanted to prove to her mom that she was ready to be the next Red Hood, but tragedy made her think about the repercussions of that title With little training, she wouldn t stand a chance defeating the werewolves that went after her But with the help of her Grandmere and Merlin and Theodore, there might just be a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. This had been an exciting and intriguing prequel to Giselle s journey to becoming the powerful Red Hood I love this newest retelling of Red and Grandma and big bad wolf I ve always been a sucker for slayer stories and this one about werewolves excited me Although this had been such a short story prequel I am already hooked and can t wait to readof Giselle and Merlin s brotherhood Carl Waters writing is superb and enticing, his words held me entranced until that cliffhanger I will definitely read the next book in this series

I received a free copy of this book from the author, through the David Estes Fans and YA Booklovers Unite Goodreads group, in exchange for an honest review For as long as Giselle could remember, she s wanted to be the Red Hood just like her mother But what does it really mean to be the Red Hood Is the red cloak just a simple cloak, or is it muchthan that Giselle finds this out after tragedy strikes and she is forced to outwit a fearsome werewolf while wearing the red cloak.Simply putI received a free copy of this book from the author, through the David Estes Fans and YA Booklovers Unite Goodreads group, in exchange for an honest review For as long as Giselle could remember, she s wanted to be the Red Hood just like her mother But what does it really mean to be the Red Hood Is the red cloak just a simple cloak, or is it muchthan that Giselle finds this out after tragedy strikes and she is forced to outwit a fearsome werewolf while wearing the red cloak.Simply put, this book is another retelling of the classic fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood This retelling was certainly an interesting and entertaining read and I really enjoyed it The biggest downfall of this book, however, is it s brevity The actual novel was only 65 pages long, the rest being excerpts of it s prequel and sequel, so it was basically a novella The problem with short books there s never enough details Had this book been longer, I would have really liked it As it stands, this book is a solid 3.5 stars for me

An excellent reworking of Little Red Riding Hood where Little Red is the Red Hood in training, Merlin is the mastermind, werewolves aren t so romantic and family members strike the killing blow This is an excellent glimpse into the world of the Red Hood and it only promises to get even better ARC was graciously provided by the author via StoryCartel

Being a fan of fairy re tellings especially darker ones , I was looking forward to reading this. The story centers around Red Hood which is obvious In this story, Red Hood works for the king and keeps the forest clear of horrible creatures It s an honor, passed down from one generation to the next But this story isn t about the reigning Red Hood, rather her daughter who is a Red Hood in training. The story is short Very short And I think that s its biggest downfall The little Red Hood is a Being a fan of fairy re tellings especially darker ones , I was looking forward to reading this. The story centers around Red Hood which is obvious In this story, Red Hood works for the king and keeps the forest clear of horrible creatures It s an honor, passed down from one generation to the next But this story isn t about the reigning Red Hood, rather her daughter who is a Red Hood in training. The story is short Very short And I think that s its biggest downfall The little Red Hood is a sweet girl and comes across as a character I was ready to fall in love with She s got spunk but not overly so and adores her mother, although the mother is a pretty hard nut to crack From the first page, I knew that this was a little girl I could cheer for She has tons of spirit, wields the heart of a hero and still is fragile enough to make one hope she can make it through At times, she comes across a little younger that sixteen.I was caught up in the story immediately and loved the way the author weaved the fairy tale character into a force to be reckoned with Even the plot lures in as an unexpected twist arrives, promising a fantastic adventure But then, the pending disaster happens too quickly and the gusto falls short of what it could have been Still, little Red Hood kept me going, and I was eager to see how the adventure continued. The ending again came too quick and a little too predictable There are several questions left unanswered which I m assuming will be answered in the sequels but none of this bothered me to the point I would have laid down the book I wasdisappointed that the story ended where it did I was ready to follow little Red Hood anywhere and into every battle, but that was it Her story ended before it really began.as if it was chopped off That s why I m a little torn between 3 and 4 stars.Summed up, this was an enjoyable read otherwise, I wouldn t have wanted it to continue Considering it s the first in a series, I can only hope that her adventures will blossom from here because she d been a fun character to follow.I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review

This is a great retelling of the well known fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood putting a brilliant new twist on things The book is extremely short and I was quite surprised when I reached the end, thinking that I would be carried beyond the original fairytale However, I am so excited to learn that this is part of a series and I am eager to learn what will happen to Red Hood and how she will handle her new found destiny.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest reviewThis is yet another retelling of the classic fairy tale of Red Riding Hood I felt the pace was a little rushed and the end was abrupt no doubt a set up for the next book But the original re imagined characters in the book were fairly well fleshed out An entertaining if short read 2.5 5

This is a coming of age story with a strong female lead I enjoyed reading about the family relationships, especially the relationship between the mother and daughter Adela and Giselle It s an interesting take on little red riding hood, where red riding hood is a warrior What I liked about this book was that its female lead was not just physically strong, but intelectually also The writing was easy to read I would say accessible to a wide range of readers descriptive, and flowed smoothly This is a coming of age story with a strong female lead I enjoyed reading about the family relationships, especially the relationship between the mother and daughter Adela and Giselle It s an interesting take on little red riding hood, where red riding hood is a warrior What I liked about this book was that its female lead was not just physically strong, but intelectually also The writing was easy to read I would say accessible to a wide range of readers descriptive, and flowed smoothly This book was short, but it is part of a larger series of books so readers will be able continue reading about Giselle It was interesting how the characters not only were called out to fufill a heroic role, but actively sought out that role as well Overall, very enjoyable and fast paced I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review
