Katherine killed the book for me 1 She has something to prove A woman had no rights and were oppressed back then I know I know why sometimes people feel rebellious, why they want to show that they were just as capable I understand the sentiments, but I don t like to respond to such bullying by getting upset Being emotional about it never helped anybody And being reckless only goes to prove that women deserve to be treated like we are emotional and unreasonable Katherine had skills with Katherine killed the book for me 1 She has something to prove A woman had no rights and were oppressed back then I know I know why sometimes people feel rebellious, why they want to show that they were just as capable I understand the sentiments, but I don t like to respond to such bullying by getting upset Being emotional about it never helped anybody And being reckless only goes to prove that women deserve to be treated like we are emotional and unreasonable Katherine had skills with a blade Like all weapon waving heroines, she believed she could go to war She joined the training and challenged her husband in front of his men I have to ask why Just to prove that you can You can never win by force You can only win by wit So why make such a big deal out of fighting on the battlefield I thought her extremely stupid 2 Her pride I know we all like a woman with a spine But I maintain that having a spine is not the same as being prideful Katherine was prideful So unattractive 3 A marriage without intimacy Our clever Katherine proposed that And our hero agreed to it I am not an expert on medieval marriages But I get really irritated with such bs in a historical setting I believe in practicality and make the best out of whatever situation you are in Withholding sex to show contempt is not my cup of tea Katherine resented Stephan And I don t even know why I think Stephan hadreasons to despise her But he was polite if not loving And Katherine, it s not as if Stephan was panting after you Get down from your high horse and know that he never wanted you either So stop playing the victim already I disliked Katherine a lot The book suffered in my eyes because of my feelings about her This review is for an ARC from the publisher on NetGalley

If you enjoy a Scottish historical romance laced with a Robert the Bruce and Templar Knights theme, you will likely want to read Forbidden Legacy by Diana Cosby Lady Catherine Calbraith and Templar Knight Stephan MacQuistan, the main couple, are linked to this theme intricately, as well as to each other, long before they even meet How ironic it is that Robert the Bruce is the one to quickly put the pieces together and push these unlikely soulmates together so fate can step in and take over Ev If you enjoy a Scottish historical romance laced with a Robert the Bruce and Templar Knights theme, you will likely want to read Forbidden Legacy by Diana Cosby Lady Catherine Calbraith and Templar Knight Stephan MacQuistan, the main couple, are linked to this theme intricately, as well as to each other, long before they even meet How ironic it is that Robert the Bruce is the one to quickly put the pieces together and push these unlikely soulmates together so fate can step in and take over Evensurprising is his deeply personal interest in doing so.What did I like about this book Well, I am a big fan of a strong heroine, who is still in need of a handsome hero Both characters did not disappoint in that regard Though we are told briefly how she was forced to witness the murder of her family, Catherine had the courage and determination to escape a dungeon, seek Bruce s help, then return to Avalon, to continue her family s legacy She did so with nightmares still fresh from that horrific ordeal, as well as from a past sexual assault when she was only 15 Btw, the story begins with her arrival to seek Bruce s help in retaking Avalon Her escape is only vaguely explained later on.Stephan stepped up to the plate when he agreed to marry Catherine, at Bruce s command, so he could return to Avalon, as he also wished to restore his heritage there He was especially in desperate need of the hidden caverns Catherine mentioned so he could hide secure some of the Templar Knight s treasure He did so still under a hatred filled assumption Catherine s father was to blame for the death of his father, mother, and sister, when Catherine s family was first given Avalon He then planned to leave Avalon as soon as possible to continue his knightly duties, btw He did not plan to make a permanent home with her Nor did she think they would either My true romantic at heart side didn t particularly take to that notion. With several twists and turns, these two characters will each receive two life changing big reveals about their lives that changes everything they thought they ever knew Most of the storyline was centered on the voyage to Avalon and their time spent at the castle, while they continued to dance around each other and get accustomed to the fact they were now married What did I have issues with This book had quite a bit of back and forth in regards to the romance Neither wanted the marriage, and I think they didn t even have their first kiss until almost halfway through Throw in Catherine s inability to even be touched by a man without thinking of the assault, and it took quite awhile for them to become intimate I guess ultimately I felt it was rather slow paced when it came to their relationship Then once they were finally a couple, Stephan s big reveal had him pushing her away He thought she would think less of him once she knew the truth As their discoveries happened close to the ending, it didn t take long for them to talk through their new realities and embrace accept each other let go of their past Overall, this book only had one brief, life threatening scenario where one of the main characters is injured It pretty much just seemed to cruise along to the big reveals then its final conclusion I did find myself skimming over large parts of it, when it strayed from the romantic plot, because that s just how I roll, folks I appreciate authentic Scottish history details, such as the Templar Knights, but I m unashamedly all about romance Here s to hoping my review gives you enough insight to determine if this book appeals to you.Goodreads Romance Safety Gang It is implied the hero was inexperienced meaning a virgin , due to his Templar vows, but didn t come right out an call him a virgin We were told heroine was raped at age 15 but, thankfully, were not given a graphic reenactment She still had a hard time being touched or even looked at by men Neither wanted this arranged marriage but did so because they each had an agenda and their king wanted them to marry Neither thought they would actually live together all the time, since he was a knight and fought for the crown, and she had intimacy issues It was back and forth quite a bit until they realized they loved each other Even then they had issues to work out At one time or another they did keep pushing each other away Title Forbidden Legacy, Series Forbidden Book 1 , Author Diana Cosby, Pages 348, stand alone, heroine was raped at 15, MC both get two big reveals, arranged marriage at first, eventually fall in love, wasn t a particularly heart stopping romance, hero finally figures out heroine has intimacy issues and patiently tries to help her, strong but emotion heroine, hero learns there isto life than being a Templar knight This review is based on ARC ebook received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion No monetary compensation was made There is no relationship affiliation between the reviewer and the author publisher

sweet to be master of his murdered family s home, but he never plans on revealing the truth to his wife about her father.Feeling it would cause Katherinehurt and devastation, yet wouldn t abandonment It makes one wonder about his complicated thought process.Stephan figures he can set her aside be married in name only as they plan to go to war and take Avalon castle back He is surprised that she is easily agreed to no intimacy for the wedding night and for the time being He is shocked that this wisp of a girl basically blackmailed their King and has to accompany them and only then will she share a teenager What future can these two possibly have The attraction becomes apparent, but is that enough Secrets always seem to reveal themselves in one way or another eventually Shocking ending. This book was absolutely riveting adventure filled with secrecy, mayhem, brutality, betrayal, trust, faith, hope and love It has so many twists and turns andthan one shocking surprise Superbly written,
