Please note this review may contain spoilersTHE AMERICAN LOVER was a sweet story about two people hurt deeply by love in two very different ways both determined never to fall in love again as the potential heartbreak just isn’t worth it But as Faith and Caleb get to know one another feelings become involved that make it harder for them to stay on their loveless pathsSadly THE AMERICAN LOVER just wasn’t for me The dual POVs didn’t work that well with uite a bit of repetition occurring between the POV switches I can understand Caleb’s issues and insecurities given that his wife cheated on him and said some very nasty things to him when he caught her in the act but Faith is also insecure In my opinion she’s overly insecure which is odd because she had a really good marriage with Drew before he died Like I said it’s a sweet story but I found that it took me forever to finish it I just couldn’t get into it and thought about not finishing it several timesFor reviews please visit our website wwwromancebetweenthesheetscom

Faith’s life was truly blessed She married her high school sweetheart and they had made so many plans for their future But that future never had a chance when everything was ripped away from Faith No way did she ever want to put her heart on the line and hurt that much againCaleb did not believe in happily ever after since his brutal divorce He only wanted “no strings attached” encounters you can’t call them relationships Both Caleb and Faith have been hurt to the point where neither wants to allow their hearts to be vulnerable again They meet and become good friends and teach each other that it is ok to love again It really is a sweet story Caleb is a business man and travels to London It is there that he encounters Faith the typical dowdy widow He sees her and becomes interested in wooing her into his bed While it may seem cliché there is to the story than the big powerful business man and plain Jane woman meeting and hooking up It is about being hurt and learning to love again Letting your heart go to belong to another even though you’re scared out of your mind About allowing yourself the right to be happy even when happiness seems like it is not possibleMy only complaint is Faith’s vulnerability I understand how hurt she was and how afraid she was to move on But her vulnerability came across as weakness and insecurity which made her unlikable Other than that I really enjoyed this story and the outcomeCopy provided for review

I loved the book I love GE's style of writing It's so personal and I love the different perspectives of the story and feelings I could have used from the book I felt like it wasn't long enough once they were really together I loved how they were both from broken hearts and fighting their feelings I loved the personalities of both characters I loved the Steamy Scenes but could have used of them I truly love how GE ends a book with some closure That is so rare for authors They tend to leave with a sudden end and wonder where the happily ever after will take you but GE takes you there I love love love that

Loved this book It was great that even though both Faith and Caleb had back age they really did work at being together and not let others influence them Faith is a strong independent woman despite what she shows and when she propositions Caleb it changes her life
