35 starsSuper cute fluffy Cardeno C story with a time travel twist So far it's one of my favorite novellas from this authorI enjoyed this little number a great deal so much that I was willing to overlook that whiplash speed GFY If you don't mind your MCs going from straight to gay and I mean on your knees begging for cock gay then this is the story for you I only let it bother me a little then I was consumed by the fluffy and I just accepted the story for what it was Which is needless to say adorableCardeno C is super hit or miss for me Sometimes amount of reality that I have to suspend becomes too much or the love is too insta y but everything sort of worked for me with this one It was funny and likeable charming and appropriately smutty I'm also a sucker for a time travel book so there ya goCopy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review

Re read September 2019I love the audio of this 45 starsI loved this This is a short story about Ethan Oblivious EthanEthan is a famous actor who is unsatisfied with his life His relationships end before they get serious and the only time he feels happy is when he is with his best friend JudeEthan is driving his car to Jude’s house when he almost hits a woman in the middle of the road This woman tells him to buckle up because they are going to make a trip to the past This woman called Ginger by Ethan because of her red hair takes him to several places in time Every time and place they visit has to do with Ethan’s friendship with Jude By the end of the trip Ethan realizes something about his best friend and he can’t wait to get home to himThis was incredibly sweet very romantic and I loved the heck out of it

On the night of his latest relationship failure Ethan Baker is visited by his guide to visit places in time and to understand that what he has been looking for is already there in form of his best friend Jude Harrison I have only one experience with Cardeno C's story before and the only thing I could remember was how I didn't like the too sugary style However I got assurance from a couple of people that this one is less sugary So I decided to give it a try I like the your best friend is the one for you theme anyway Just like Arthur said this has the feeling of Ghost of Christmas Past part of Dickens' Christmas Carol as Ethan is being shown what Jude has been done for him all this time and how Jude has always been there for him loving him and helping him to get to his success now It's sweet and lovely The story itself gets 35 stars but I need to add the extra 05 stars for the witty lines Things like I know I’m whining but do you have any idea how much it rains in the Northwest? Continufuckingly I grew up in the Palm Springs desert and let me tell you we say it’s a dry heat for good reasonCharming Ethan charming grin

This was only the second story I've read by this author and I'm left with one burning uestion? Why? I seriously need to bump some of this author's books up on my TBR list I really enjoyed this story and McFarland's Farm which was the other Cardeno C book that I read This was a seriously good short story I liked the pace the author set I enjoyed the friends to lover aspect of it My only issueof course I would have liked it to be longer so that there was on page time between Ethan and Jude But all in all a nice warm fuzzy story

What can I say its Cardeno C and there's not much of his I don't like so once again I wasn't too worried Second pre sleep read last night and again short sweet and satisfying Has a touch of A Christmas Carol feel to it even though this has nothing to do with Christmas A lesson in not seeing whats in front of your face all along with a nice touch of fantasy thrown in Very enjoyable but pretty short so what I call snack size Yes I liked it

Is there anyone oblvious to both himself and his surroundings than Ethan? I think not He's totes adorbs though I liked this story and could have read a much longer one about him and Jude I liked seeing the progression of their romance from the bit of time travel that happened as well but it could have worked just as well without the PNR angle Jude you are in fact the most patient person in all the world I would almost say that you deserve better but Ethan is the perfect person for you and I'm happy to see you get what you most wanted your best friend as your lover I enjoyed this read uite a bit and sorry to see it end so uickly but for a fast sweet read this was perfect Copy provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review

375This a low angst sweet story with a touch of supernatural think A Christmas Carol about missing what's in front of you until it's almost too late You can enjoy it for what it is and also for John Solo's excellent narration Ethan Baker is a talented actor Golden Globe winner et al who somehow manages to be completely incurious about himself and those closest to him namely his best friend Jude Harrison They've known each other since Ethan was 13 and Jude 15 and have been inseparable ever since They're each other's constant except Ethan has been blind to this until after yet another break up with a girlfriend du jour he encounters a guide to memory lane This lifelong closeness is what saves this from being any kind of insta for me and I'm grateful We've been dating for yearsHe flicked his gaze toward me and arched his eyebrows in uestionYou know my uirks I know yours We've learned to tolerate each other's parents I say I don't know where I want to eat you figure it out Isn't that a relationship?Pretty much Jude nodded agreeably But adding sex into it helps I liked how unselfconscious and all in Ethan was once he saw who Jude had always been to him there was no hand wringing over his sexuality coming out or what others will say It's a bit of wishful thinking but this is a short piece and it would be weighed down by anything heavy Plus Ethan and Jude do live in the world of Hollywood I loved how unconditional and steadfast Jude had always been towards Ethan though it seemed like a thankless job at times True abnegation on his part Such is love sigh I liked the little wink to Bikram and the Guideniggle you can ignoreview spoilerHow could Ethan and Jude be best friends to the point that they almost live together and Ethan doesn't know that Jude is gay? How oblivious is he? Jude is not a flaunter of anything in fact he refuses to be in the public eye but also doesn't seem to be one for hiding No reason for it It might have been good to be in his head for a minute hide spoiler

Short but sweet and really well done this friends to lovers novella hit my sweet spot early on Wonderfully narrated by John Solo I enjoyed going on the journey with Ethan who learns just how much his best friend Jude has always been there for him John Solo does such a great job narrating both the male and female character voices of the storyI loved the byplay between Ethan and Ginger as Ethan goes through the pivotal moments of his past in order to open his eyes to his future But mostly I loved when Ethan and Jude get together the story doesn't fade to black immediately but the readerlistener is given time to see the interaction between the characters and to get a better sense of their relationship and how well they work togetherEven though it is uite a short story I didn't feel like it was missing anything Sure I wanted but that's because Cardeno weaves such a wonderful world and characters that I don't ever want to leaveI wouldn't change anything about the story it was just what I was looking for right when I needed it a perfectly charming fluffy romance with a wonderful HEARecommended Audio copy of Places in Time provided by the author in exchange of an honest review This review has been cross posted at Gay Book Reviews

I love pretty much everything that I've read from Cardeno C but this short 68 page book left me with mixed feelingsI loved the Dickens Ghost of Christmas Past style time travel chapters during the first half of the story where Ethan learns how Jude was not only responsible for him even having an acting career to begin with but also what Jude has sacrificed and felt for him over the yearsHowever once Ethan finally realizes and divulges his feelings for Jude then the story just became rote and uninspiring for me as much as I hate to admit thatThose last parts of the book felt like they could have been cut and pasted from any number of other books lacking any real spark that made them as special as the initial parts of the bookAveraged out I'd have to say this short read was around 3 stars for me

  10. Arthur Arthur says:

The premise of this story is like the first one third of Dickens' Christmas Carol You know the Ghost of Christmas Past part Yet the way the author uses the setting Hollywood actor and his best friend who also a son of senior producer is uite nice view spoilerBut there's a bit difference from the ghost of Christmas Past Here the MC get to see some behind the screen events that he was not aware of at that time As a result he learns much about his own life and how his best friend did so much for him without him realizing it hide spoiler
