This is a must read for anyone who wants to be spiritual and loving particularly learn to love themselves There are no fancy tricks or methodologies here not really It's about setting aside the time and doing it consistently without expectation or a real agendaThe greatest uote in the book and it's a big one to come to terms with is that God loves satan as much as He loves Jesus This is to reassure each of us that God loves us just as much just as we are This also takes me down the road of parallels with capital punishment but that would probably be thinking than meditation yet it still makes a humongous point that can't be ignored God LOVES everyone no matter how good or bad and recognizing this and just letting God look at us daily can make a huge difference in all our lives

Sample uote “Meditation in the Christian tradition is sometimes referred to as ‘unknowing’ It’s a kind of knowing that’s realized in passing beyond the frontiers of the customary ways of knowing dependent on thought”

This was a helpful audible guide to Christian Meditation as Finley interprets it He incorporates many useful practical tips about background posture timers etc Having a guided meditation during the book is helpful as we can do too much reading about the topic when we really need to experience it On the downside the recorded reading is a little hypnotic in style at some points not just during the guided meditation and gives the listening experience a bit of a flat feel This could be uite hazardous when driving a vehicle at the same time A useful guide to compare with some other teachers like Thomas Keating or John Main
