I have to say that I love the covers of this series Yes This is the second book in a series Technically you could read this stand alone There are only some little bits that might draw a blank from book one the point is though the series is amazing Now onto the bookThe nice guy Cole The one that does everything right and by the book might have just had enough I found Cole to be irresistible in his charms The feeling of having to earn your parents approval is a strong motivator in fact it's the only one Cole really every grasped He's never done anything for his own happiness until now I won't make a spoiler out of thisGwen is the best friend of Cole's sister This where reading book one is slightly helpful Gwen has been burned badly Her heart is pining away for one man and nothing seems to break his hold on her She knows though that she isn't good enough for Cole's family and would never be approved ofYou feel the pain for the couple I can relate to Cole and Gwen's motives are clear I have nothing negative to say about this except FINALLY the nice guy gets the girl Ms Burke is talented Her stories have heat and spice without being vulgar and raunchy The sex enhances a story and the charactersIf you are a fan of romance where the characters actually close the deal this author is for you I enjoy reading these and walking away feeling like I just took a great vacationSo here's to Cole the nice guy that every woman wants to fall in love with

Cole is his father's right hand man The good son he always does his duty and never strays from the straight and narrow Gwen is a funky sassy independent woman When these two get together the tension is combustible They have both wanted and loved each other for years but is Cole willing to risk his family's approval for a lifetime with Gwen? This is the second installment of the Risso family series but holds up very well as a stand alone Once again I loved every second of this story Family drama unreuited love and steamy love scenes make this a sweet read We also get to see what's new with Lia and Ryan This series is just so good It's an absolute must read I was given an ARC in exchange for an HONEST review

I received a copy in exchange for an honest reviewI read the first book in this series a few months ago and enjoyed so when I was offered the rest of the series for review I jumped on the chance to continue this series The Risso Family series is great for when you're in the mood for a short hot romance I like how this book ties in with the previous book the main characters from the first book make an appearance and the focus is this time on Lia her best friend Gwen and Lia's brother Cole These two have been in love with each other for uite some time but after they had hot sex 3 years ago Gwen has been trying to avoid Cole Now that Lia and Ryan the main characters of the first book are going to marry Gwen has no way to avoid Cole although she sure as hell triesCole and Gwen made for uite the couple after their hot sex 3 years ago they both have been struggling to forget that night and continue with their life and both failing Cole has tried to apologize to her for what he said but she keeps avoiding him he's sworn off women in general as he only wants Gwen while Gwen jumps into bed with everyone she can find but is unable to get an orgasm The wedding makes it difficult for them to stay apart The conflict in this book focussed on how Cole his father disproves of Gwen and he has clearly let Cole know hence why Gwen avoided Cole since the sex three years ago as she thinks she's not good enough for him Cole is the golden son who always does everything right and follows in his father's footsteps and doesn't uite know how to say no to his father I liked seeing Cole realize that what he and Gwen had was worth fighting for but I thought the whole conflict with them avoiding each other and the thing with his father got solved a bit too easily and I wasn't entirely convinced of what happened It just felt a bit too fast and too muchI liked Cole and Gwen although they both have some flaws as well I really wished I could shake some sense in Cole he knew he was in love with Gwen but didn't act on it basically because his father disproved I wanted him to man up and go against his fathers wishes and fight for what he wanted I also thought there was a bit potential to get to know the main characters as it stays pretty shallow what we do know of them I did get a feel for both of them but would've liked I liked how we got to know a bit of their past and get a feel of how well they know each other that made it easier to accept how fast the romance moved in this book as they already know each other I still think a few things went too fast and even felt a bit rushed but overall it was fun to see these two overcome whatever was keeping them apart I though they made a nice couple There are some hot scenes towards the end of the book and things got wrapped up nicelyTo conclude this was a short and hot romance It features the main characters from the previous books as well and it was nice to see them back while the focus was on a different couple this time Cole and Gwen has stayed apart after a hot night of sex 3 years ago and now can't avoid each other as Lia is going to get married I did feel that these two already had a connection and we got some glimpses and info about their past why it was easier to accept how fast the romance moved The conflict got solved a bit too easily and I felt that some things moved a bit too fast and were a bit rushed but overall it was a nice read

Falling in love with your best friend's brother is usually a bit complicated Especially when your best friend's brother is 10 years older and appears to do exactly what is expected of him which includes not falling for the daughter of a wild child hippie as they sayGwen Larkin had avoided Cole Risso for 3 years but to Cole's pleasure that was coming to an end His sister Lia was getting married and Gwen was her maid of honor so she had to attend all the festivities This would give Cole the opportunity to finally talk to her Gwen had avoided Cole since they had their one night together and now she didn't know what to do She had never told Lia and she had never discussed it with Cole He never knew the extent of her feelings The story had a few things going on that the author handled uite well The way Gwen dealt with her pain She acted out with the many dates and sex due to not feeling good enough And with Cole hearing about this and describing his feelings I was there with him You also have the prodigal son trying to branch out on his own For years he does everything he is told to do But when Gwen talks about her memories you get an insight into the real Cole and what he really felt about his life The story may have been short but by the author showing what what was in the characters mind and hearts it gave a deeper insight into the story especially since the characters knew each other for so long And when Papa had his final scene it all comes together Loved it

This second book in the Risso family series is written as phenomenally as the first Reading the story is like living the lives of the characters; you can feel their pain happiness lust and every other emotion I cannot say enough about Lynn Burke's writing style and how it makes the reader feelCole has hidden his feelings from his father for many years As the oldest son he will take over as the family patriarch when his father passes and being of Italian decent that holds many expectations one of which is whom he marries Cole has spent the last decade of his life pining for the one woman his father would never approve of As Lia is preparing to wed the love of her life Ryan Walsh the man her best friend Gwen set her up on a blind date with Cole is faced with the agony of possibly losing his family over the woman he loves or losing the one he loves to stay in his father's good graces A tough choice to make but one he can no longer avoid His suffering has gone on far too long and after he makes his decision his life will change forever Will Cole choose to honor his father and let the woman he loves get away? Or will he follow his heart and face whatever wrath his father will bestow? This is definitely a story full of passion and lust of desire and need of choice and chance With the turn of each page the reader will find themselves further and further engulfed with intense emotions And in the end will find that family and love are both too important to let go of

  6. Doris Doris says:

What do you do when the only woman you've ever loved will never be accepted by your family? That's the dilemma Cole faces Gwen and he shared one hot passionate encounter and she's been avoiding him ever since A state of affairs that is slowly killing him but to change the status uo would mean going against his father's wishes He's the good son the one that toes the line and does what he's told and besides how do you get a woman to listen to you when she is determined to avoid you?Well no spoilers from me suffice to say I loved this story just as much as the first one in this series and it was great to see the previous characters againThis series is a winner for sure
