Adorable A cute story about ducklings and their first day of school It is not easy to leave mom but school turns out to be pretty fun Great for kids who might be a little anxious about going to school for the first time

The five little ducklings are going to school That's so exciting and so scary at the same time This is the typical book that comes to hand when we need to introduce new situations to the little ones The ducklings know the school will be lots of fun but the idea of being apart from mama duck makes them anxious Of course mama duck with endless patience encourage them to take the plunge They love school and even better they feel so good they didn't let the fear decide for themThe rhymed text is very accessible for the little ones I'd say the story is perfect for kids in the 3 5 years old range especially if they are getting ready for schoolThe illustrations are colorful and funny The little ducklings in their ties and hats ready for school are so cuteI received this copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest reviewCheck out children's book reviews in my Reviews in Chalk Blog

What a wonderful book I would recommend this book to all parents whose children are getting ready to start school The illustrations as absolutely adorable The Five ducklings are ready for their first day of school but they start to cry because they will miss their mother She convinces them that they will be fine and that she will be waiting for them at the end of the day The story goes through a day at school with all the fun activities and new friends The Ducklings are happy to see mother at the end of the day but admitted that they had a fun day A great book to read over and over There is so much going on in the illustrations that you will be able to see something new each time you readThank you Netgalley and North South Books Incfor giving me the opportunity to read and review this book

Five little ducklings are taking their first big adventure by going to school for the first time Most of them are very excited but one little duckling is not uite sure about leaving mama duck and going to school I read this myself and found it adorable and then read it to my now 6 year old son who is now in Grade 1 but starting a new school He loved the vibrant pictures the way it was written and most importantly the story itself I think he could relate to it as he is ok leaving me but was not sure about starting a new schoolI really think this is a wonderful book for parents to read towith their children as they start going to school whether it is elementary school or preschool The story is very uplifting and positive Highly recommendedMy only regret is that I had been trying to read the book through Netgalley and for some reason the format was incorrect so I had to wait until I could find a copy to read I am so glad that I did find it as it is a book that every parent should read to their child

Five Little Ducklings Go to School by Carol Roth and Sean Julian is a beautifully illustrated narrative poem for young children The illustrations are full of color and details which is pleasing to the eye The poem begins with Mama Duck waking her ducklings up for the first day of school At first four ducklings were excited to experience their first day as the fifth duckling sobbed Once the first four ducklings saw the fifth duckling cry they all began to cry The poem discusses the ducklings’ experiences at school The ducklings went on the swings played in the sandbox and built a tower When the ducklings were reunited with their mother at the end of the day they shared a hug and waddled home with a smile A memorable uote from the poem is when Mama Duck assured her children that “Even though we’ll be apart we’ll still be in each other’s heart” This uote is a wonderful uote to share with a young child who is anxious about attending their first day of school Mama Duck also shares “Remember my darlings it’s okay to miss someone while they’re away” This uote is reassuring for young children because they know that it is normal to feel worried and miss their mother This is a perfect story for a parent to read to their child before the first day of the school year before transferring schools or moving to a new town Teachers can also read it to their class on the first day to ease some of the first day jitters Teachers can follow up with a writing assignment at the end of the day to compare how they felt at the beginning of the day and the end of the day Students can also reflect on their first day of school experiences They can also compare how the ducklings felt from the beginning to end of the poem Doing so allows students to dig deeply in the feelings of the characters and understand character traits Students make text to self and text to world connections during these post reading activities Teachers can also read First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg to supplement the conversation on school anxiety
