This book had a profound effect on my life when I read it as it opened my eyes in so many ways Within it is a chapter on forgiveness ie Chapter 7 that is in my view the best content I have ever read on the subject This uote from that chapter was perhaps the most important passage in the book for me to encounter at that moment of my life Follow this logic Someone has harmed you in some way in your past You feel hurt and angry and that anger ultimately turns to hatred This is your hatred You own it It is you and you are it The hatred is all thought and is with you wherever you go You have given someone permission not only to hurt you once but to continue controlling your inner life The hatred infects your life while the other person is still on his or her path doing exactly what he or she knows how to do independent of your current miserable state

Ok ok so I like these self helpy types of books What can I say?Only on page 30 of 290 This was published way back in '89 so the principles are kind of old hat to me But I love stories of self transformation That's why I like the self helpy types of books Because really it's just a story of the author's personal transformation; where they struggled what they endured how they felt how they made a conscious effort to overcome their own personal demons how it wasn't always easy how they are still growing and learning every step of the way It's what makes them fundamentally human It's what I love most about people their desire to become a better person It doesn't really matter where they started out; everybody has a starting point and a place to go from there To move from a place of chaos and confusion into a place of peace and clarity

I love inspiring books like this I'd group it with 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The purpose Driven Life Of these three Mr Dyer promotes Christianity the least but he is all about spirituality Here's a tidbit our bodies are our form Trans means to soar above and beyond Tion means the act of doingTransForm a Tion means the act of soaring above and beyond our bodiesAstral is the philosophy term for the spirit or thought It is the base part of disaster Dis means away from or apart from Being away from your spirit is disasterI love words and thinking and being inspired to live a better happier productive lifeNow to get back to the murder mysteries

Reading the odd self help type of book from time to time is part of my overall reading strategy If for no other reason than to offset the negativity in so much else Some are better than others and I do rather like Dyer's perspective one never gets the impression that this is solely a commercial enterprise for him As such writings go this is one of the better ones and a book to be returned to on occasion it is uplifting and somehow avoids the making you wrong type of lecturing that one finds in many other tomes of this genre

I went through a big Wayne Dyer phase back in the mid 90s For a long time I really thought all this stuff could work just from believing and positive thinking Now I know better but I still think there are some good messages scattered throughout Dyer's books Here's a uote I ran across recently that I'd copied from this book I still like it and I think it's relevant than ever in our current selfish consumer culture All of the 'stuff' of your life has arrived to serve you rather than to make you a servant to the stuff

Wayne Dyer is a much better presenter than he is author I'm sure that the style is the same but it does not translate to print for me He is an amazing personality fun charismatic and one of my personal heroes I can not bring myself to pick this book up to finish reading it
