This is the sort of book to dip in and out of It is a collection of almost 30 articles examining four centuries of black writing Those that I read and I admit to not reading the whole book were engagingly written and clear in a way that made them accessible to anyone interested in the subject Ideally this is best used as a reference work and readers would do well to copy or scan the relevant chapters copyright permitting of course
