I think I'd be able to give this book stars if I could figure out exactly what the plot was The writing is right up my alley a blend of sarcasm and smarts If this story would have progressed for about 100 or so pages it might have been something or not It all depends on what those 100 or so pages contained but for the length it's an okay read There's nothing really to get attached to It's like something you read while you're waiting on line at the supermarket at a meager 54 pages not much happens and it doesn't give you much to go off of You'll be done with it faster than you can wrap your head aroundThe blurb wraps it up in a neat little bow but uite frankly you don't get the impression of a young man struggling to write a paper It just seems like someone who is completely out of sorts and unsure of where he's going So they do have that part right I would imagine that reading the first book would help sort out some of the gaps left by book two I'm just not sure if its worth reading or not I was pretty confused and I think other readers will be too

05 starsWhy Why did I force myself to suffer through this I read ueen of Broken Hearts and its horrible writing shoddy plotline and crappy characters just about killed me When I first saw this on Netgalley I just laughed and scrolled past it Then I saw it was read now and I couldn't help thinking what if Pak's story isn't so bad I wanted to give the series a chance for improvement Everyone deserves a second chance right Wrong This series didn't deserve the second chance especially because this was even worse than the first book if that's even possible I can honestly not tell you what happened in this book Honestly If you think I am exaggerating please go and read this yourself You'll see soon enough how illogically and nonsensically this is written The plot moved from one location to another within a couple of sentences and I couldn't follow why or how The characters were all shallow idiotic and well practically carbon copies of one another If it wasn't for their names oh please don't even get me started on the author's choice of names I probably wouldn't have been able to differentiate any of the characters at allTo sum this up rather simply King of Forgotten Clubs was terrible the plotline made no sense and the characters didn't make any sense either I didn't enjoy this I tried to honestly I did but no I just cannot get into the series This time I really do mean it when I say that I will not be reading any of this author's workNote a copy was provided courtesy of Jennifer Recchio and All Night Reads through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review No compensation was given or taken during this process

Click here to see the review in its natural habitatI don't know what to think about this novella I had read the first part of this 'mini series' and I saw this one on Netgalley and I just had to read this one It was just too tempting Plus I really do like the covers of this series But I read this one in just one day because it was uite short But I was so confused by this I wasn't really sure what this was aboutIt was kind of an odd story I have to agree that the previous part was also really odd but this was just wow This topped it all off I was so confused Okay so Pak who I vaguely remember from the previous one is pretty depressed about Birdie breaking up with him His parents want him gone to a boarding school in France and at some point a girl comes in his house wanting help But Pak as kind as he is offers her help obviously but brings him and his friends in dangerThe names of this novel were weird too but thankfully there were some normal ish names in this one too I'm still confused about the name 'Pak' In Dutch 'Pak' just means package or as a verb grab So that was a little weird to meThe writing was pretty good it didn't bother me It was just not for me I hope other people enjoy this one a bit than I didI don't have a lot to say about this I enjoyed it it was a uick read but I don't think it worked out I think it would've worked better if it were just a little bit longer and a little less fast paced because that confused me

Goodreads Synopsis There’s two hours left before Pak Higgins’ paper on the psychology of needs is due Two hours to figure out what he needs in his life Is it the girlfriend that dumped him for being too distant The friends he’s barely talking to any Or maybe it’s the running girl who crashed through his window at three in the morning with a desperate plea for help It’s definitely not the parents who tried to leave him in a boarding school in France or the money he walked away from to cut himself off from themBut needing is a funny thing Sometimes it’s the ones you want to run from that you need the mostKing of Forgotten Clubs is a novella of approximately 60 pages and the seuel to ueen of Broken HeartsMy Review This book was fun I mean sure I felt like I was missing part of the story but that tends to happen when you read the second book in the series It was short and exciting I'm not sure that I loved the characters or the time the book was in it seemed like a lot longer than two hours which I didn't understand So many things happened in such a little span of time It's weird to think about Like I said I didn't totally love the characters except for the girl who broke in through his window but I really liked the story It was fun That's all I have to say about that Definitely will check out the first book though to see how that one goes Don't want to totally miss out on a good series if it is my thing if I only read the second book Thanks for reading Radioactivebookreviewswordpresscom

Reviews by The Bookwhore DiariesI really had such high hopes for this bookSadly it hasn't lived up to what I expected of itIt's so much worsePak Higgins is a teen who had broken up with his girlfriend and a few days after stumbles upon a whole new level of trouble Along with that trouble was another girl A girl who apparently stole his pants And that is when their adventure beginsThe plot was going in several directions that my head was spinning in circles right up to the end The scenes were jumping from one to the other with little established ground as to the sudden changes in location or the character's decisionsI was really trying to see what was the matter with the main character but all I ended up with was What's his problem reallyOverall the idea that the author I think intends to tell is really good But the way that the author tried to express it was all over the place At the end all I got was a big glob of details that are thinly connected to each other mixed up and all you get in the end is a bowl of confusion

I'm not going to star this book for a few reasons1 I liked the authors voice and the writing was clean2 The rating is low enough Yeah I know I'm totally pity not rating this bookI'm DNFing it based on the fact that it just can't hold my interest I love books with non linear storytelling but the thing about them is they have to nail it They have to weave things so well that the lack of knowledge the small glimpses of full plot the jumping are all outweighed by a powerful string that pulls you through the book until you get to the AH HA momentUnfortunately this book did not do that for meBUT Ms Recchio's writing and voice are strong enough that I'd try another by her for sure

Disclosure I got this as an ARC from NetgalleyPak Higgins is trying to figure out his psych paper about what he needs in life He is confused if it's the girlfriend that dumped him or the girl he meets His misadventures seem to be the storyline The whole plot sort of had me for a loss I wasn't sure what was really going on at any given time The overall writing style was fine except for the fact that it really didn't get it's point acrossed Or at least I am still confused as to what the point was exactly so maybe it did and I just missed it I would not read any subseuent stories about Pak or his group of misfit friends the depth of the characters really didn't evolve enough to spark my interest in learning about them

  9. Laura Laura says:

This book is the second book in the 'ueen of Broken Heart' series unfortunately I have not read the first part and found this book uite hard to get in toAfter breaking up with his girlfriend Pak is in bed when a strange girl suddenly jumps through his window Pak is intrigued by this girl and what she is on the run from especially when she starts turning up everywhere he goesImra later reveals that she is on the run from a drug ring that her dad is involved in Pak and his friends then come together to help the girl as she is in trouble But as they arrange to rescue her the truth comes out and all is not what it seemsA good book for a uick read but would benefit from reading the first book in the series first

This one had such potential for me to love it I didn't mind being with Pak at all In fact I loved the change in POV and his uirky self It was interesting to read the way his thoughts bopped around and how his words seemed really off the wall but now that you see his perspective it makes senseI could even buy off on the girl the chase and even the silliness that ensued Loved the gang getting back together to try to find out what was going on and all the adventureIt lost me once they involved the police and Pak totally ignored what they were saying It just pushed the bounds of what was believable and lost me But I did enjoy the ride and the change of perspective
