I long for translations that like the Loeb Classical Library include the original language Contains good introductory background information to each of the texts preserved in translation including discussion re authorship dates historical significance thematic elements genre etc The texts themselves are written in very accessible English and provide a useful addition to the dominant Christian narratives found in Lactantius Eusebius and the fifth century church historians Alternative views are accompanied by complementary narratives that help confirm information or at least traditional opinions as well as nuggets of information not included in other sourcesEach text is also accompanied by informative footnotes and cross references to other primary source material along with short notes about facts or scholarly debates A bibliography of relevant primary and secondary sources is included
