4.5 starsSitting at her desk, struggling with the words she wanted to write, Anamae missed her mother desperately Even after nine years, the sense of loss was acute when she vanished it was as if from the face of the earth Every year on the anniversary of her disappearance, Mae would write the letter to her mother, telling her of the happenings of herself and her father over the past twelve months the special drawer which held these letters was filling, but at least she would be able to giv 4.5 starsSitting at her desk, struggling with the words she wanted to write, Anamae missed her mother desperately Even after nine years, the sense of loss was acute when she vanished it was as if from the face of the earth Every year on the anniversary of her disappearance, Mae would write the letter to her mother, telling her of the happenings of herself and her father over the past twelve months the special drawer which held these letters was filling, but at least she would be able to give her mother an insight into their lives Giving up the struggle, she ran down the stairs, yelling to her Dad that she was going out with Will for a little while Will was her best friend, and her next door neighbour he knew all there was to know about her and she couldn t imagine her life without him in it Heading down on Will s bike to have a coffee together, Mae dragged Will into the local junk shop to browse first Albert s Second Hand Treasures was a favourite haunt of theirs and they would play a game to find the weirdest treasure the loser paying for the coffee When Mae suddenly spotted a brooch which looked very, very like the pendant her mother had worn and loved, she was unaware of the catastrophic events which would follow this discovery For putting the brooch and pendant together created a cloak of invisibility to the wearer it also summonsed a society called The Collective, a dangerous and evil group intent on ruling the world.Suddenly Will and Mae were whisked away to a safe house the frustration of not knowing what the future would hold, not being able to communicate with her Dad, and Will with his family made them both realize the strangeness of what was happening, also the dangers they were facing But events were accelerating much faster than they could keep up with and with the news of her father s kidnapping, Mae knew she had to act she couldn t bear to lose her father too, and she knew he would be suffering from her disappearance So, with or without help, she was going to her father s aid Could her father be rescued before it was too late Would they be safe or was everyone s lives on the line I thoroughly enjoyed this debut novel by Aussie author Stacey Nash The tension, the twists and turns throughout, the web of intrigue all had me glued to the pages I felt the need to give Mae a good shake a couple of times, and was glad when she befriended Lilly I will definitely be keeping my eye out for the second in this series, and have no hesitation in recommending this book to all Fantasy and YA lovers. With thanks to the author and her publisher for this ARC copy to read and review

4.5 stars out of 5.I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. In a nutshell Forget Me Not is the story of Anamae aka Mae who comes across some tech that she shouldn t, and then things go downhill from there.Mae and her best friend Will end up at a safe house, where Jax and Lilly live with her parents and a few others Forget Me Not sets up the whole story of the series very well, it s fast paced a 4.5 stars out of 5.I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. In a nutshell Forget Me Not is the story of Anamae aka Mae who comes across some tech that she shouldn t, and then things go downhill from there.Mae and her best friend Will end up at a safe house, where Jax and Lilly live with her parents and a few others Forget Me Not sets up the whole story of the series very well, it s fast paced and doesn t drag at all We jump straight in to the action from page one Mae is ripped from her world and plonked into a web of intrigue, at the centre of which is The Collective an organisation who is after the technology she has discovered which just happens to have the ability of invisibility.I enjoyed this novel, which is Stacey Nash s debut It was well written and had a good plot yay , and I loved the animosity between Will and Jax I just got great amusement out of it I m not entirely sure what that says about me and rather predictably, I liked Jax the most out of all the characters Lilly acts as a foil to him, I think I really liked her and what she brought to the story and I would love to knowabout her and the others at the safe house. There is sort of a love triangle in this story It s not a proper love triangle, as it s all a bit one sided on the romance front Mae is completely oblivious to Will s affections and I m not going to lie, I hope it stays that way lol but it does pop up every now and then The romance doesn t overwhelm the story, but it is there.I did see the twist coming before it happened, but it was still pretty thrilling when it was revealed There is action in Forget Me Not , it s not a romance novel, though there is a romance sub plot as mentioned I like the fact that Mae is learning to fight, and the tech is pretty neat too The story of The Collective seems to be an interesting one, I m really curious to learnabout them and their dealings in the next novel, Remember Me , of which we got a sneak peak of at the end Which was just mean, to be honest Where it ended, I wantedAll in all this was a very good read, and I m really looking forward to seeing how the series develops

I was given an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review In the interests of full disclosure, though, I should confess I requested the ARC because I ve read one of Stacey s other, unpublished manuscripts and really love her writing But Forget Me Not didn t disappoint I intend to buy a paperback copy once it becomes available, which is a sign of how much I loved it.Most of the young adult fiction I read is urban fantasy, so the science fiction angle was somewhat new to me but, lik I was given an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review In the interests of full disclosure, though, I should confess I requested the ARC because I ve read one of Stacey s other, unpublished manuscripts and really love her writing But Forget Me Not didn t disappoint I intend to buy a paperback copy once it becomes available, which is a sign of how much I loved it.Most of the young adult fiction I read is urban fantasy, so the science fiction angle was somewhat new to me but, like all good sci fi and fiction in general , this book was character driven I didn t feel like I needed a physics degree to know what was going on, which is the main thing that puts me off sci fi reads Forget Me Not is set somewhere in Big City America it s never stated conclusively or if it is I missed it , but it s somewhere with a president At first I assumed because Stacey is an Aussie author that it might be set here but, given the scale of events in the story, it makes sense that it be set in the global powerhouse that is the US Sorry, Australia, but it s true I still love you, though The romance between Mae and Jax is well developed and, even though I m firmly Team Will Mae s best friend , by the end I thought Mae and Jax were a cute and above all realistic couple Unfortunately for Team Will, the poor guy never had a hope he s so firmly in the friendzone that Mae can t see his attraction to her, not even when it s spelled out in so many words by a third party.Despite the romance subplot, the story is action and character driven, whisking you along I did see the plot twist coming, but only by about a chapter, so I didn t get frustrated that Mae and the others didn t see it coming It always annoys me when I as a reader figure something out ages before the characters do I m all, COME ON IT S RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU The only tiny niggle I had with Forget Me Not was that, after Mae and Will flee the baddies and take refuge with the resistance, she spends a lot of time worrying about her dad, but almost no attention is given to Will s family including by him It may just be that, because the story is from her perspective and Will is determined to be stoic, he never talks to her much about it, but I felt like his parents and sister were forgotten about.I highly recommend Forget Me Not for people who love story driven YA Five stars
