RATING 2.5 HEARTSI instantly fell in love with this new genre, New Adult , when it was first introduced and all the stories that I have read in the genre were satisfying, beyond exceptional or at the most something to talk about Unfortunately, there is such a thing as a too much cliche New Adult read, and I just experienced my first one Torrential had great potential, yet, regrettably it was not invested in accordingly Initially, I was going to give this a 1.5 star rating but there is one RATING 2.5 HEARTSI instantly fell in love with this new genre, New Adult , when it was first introduced and all the stories that I have read in the genre were satisfying, beyond exceptional or at the most something to talk about Unfortunately, there is such a thing as a too much cliche New Adult read, and I just experienced my first one Torrential had great potential, yet, regrettably it was not invested in accordingly Initially, I was going to give this a 1.5 star rating but there is one tiny redeeming moment near the end of the story that tugs on your heart strings, and me being a helpless romantic, I totally fell for it , hence my new rating Other than that, there isn t anything splendid about this story There is a lot of back and forth of, I can t be with you for this or that reason , I love you so you HAVE to stay with me , A LOT of situations where the heroine gets into troubleso naturally the guy has to save her and then they have hot sex cause they can t stand to be without each other, and of course with any terrible cliche comes the abrupt happily ever after To simply put it, this story just didn t work for me.The characters on the other hand, there are moments here and there where some but very minor appreciation comes forth towards them, but just as quickly it disappears The issue being here, there is nothing exceptional about them to be remembered There is no sympathy invoked for their troubled pasts because its not properly showcased You know everything about them, and yet don t know anything or even remotely comprehend them Both May and Sebastian have childhood issues, and I would have loved to get a deeper understanding of both their hurts and reservations, but I wasconfused than compassionate It was literally like reading a full book that s empty if that makes any sense My biggest irk comes from the romance though There is plenty of saving each other s souls in this story, however, I honestly didn t see it happening I was so confused while reading this How did May save Sebastian How did his supposedly cold heart melt How are they perfect for each other The author tells you all this, yet there is no scenes or descriptions or emotions showing readers the truth of the words Don t get me wrong, I love a good gives me goosebumps cause its so cheesy romance just as much as the next girl, despite that, there needs to be some depth in a relationship, I d think, to make it worth rooting for May and Sebastian s romance sparked no admiration from me I was stoic to there interactions, desperately aching for that ever awaited pinnacle point in there relationship that shoots sparks, sadly, the story comes to an end way before that happens Just another crossroads, where something in this story didn t work for me.That s it That s as far as this story goes Understand my dilemma, nothing is worth remembering Its the sort of story that you forget after a couple of hours to the point where you can t even recall the main characters names I was hoping for something extra, something new to come from Torrential, but it never did Overall, Torrential was obviously not my cup of tea These are just my honest opinions, in fact, there seems to be people on GR who have enjoyed this storythan I did, so definitely do your research so to speak before picking up this book For me personally though, I can t say that I d recommend this to anyone These are my honest opinions No disrespect was intended towards the author or anyone who did enjoy this story.

May has always been busy taking care of her mother but her mother promises her that she is fine now Setting May free to do what she wants to do, she decides to go to attend a school where her best friend, Tanner, is waiting for her Tanner is the one to give her a tour around campus, which is cut short when they happen upon the pool and May s eyes focus on the person currently occupying it Sebastian Even though Sebastian acts like a douche, she still feels sorry for him Not only that, he s a May has always been busy taking care of her mother but her mother promises her that she is fine now Setting May free to do what she wants to do, she decides to go to attend a school where her best friend, Tanner, is waiting for her Tanner is the one to give her a tour around campus, which is cut short when they happen upon the pool and May s eyes focus on the person currently occupying it Sebastian Even though Sebastian acts like a douche, she still feels sorry for him Not only that, he s also piques her curiosity She wonders how a guy who can swim so beautifully can be so cruel.Sebastian feels like he s nothing and keeps everyone at a distance, till May comes around She is different from the rest, she doesn t fear him or condemn him He s sure that will change when she will hear all the rumors about him Then she too will grow to hate himIf I were years younger and eons stupider, I d say that she cares But I m not worth caring about I learned that a long time agoMay s curiosity towards Sebastian and Sebastian s reaction towards May doesn t go unnoticed May s roommate, Opal sees it and preys on it She convinces May to get close to Sebastian to figure out what he is really about, if May succeeds in giving Opal the information she wants than she will make sure that May s mother is secured a jobMay agrees to the deal and tries to get Sebastian to hang out with her and Tanner Sebastian is suspicious of her motives..When the truth will unravel will Sebastian understand her motives and will he believe that not all of it has to do with the deal What is Opal s motivation behind the deal in the first place After reading Locked I knew I had to give this one a try too I like Locked better, characters aremature but both books have a gloomy and sarcastic hero I must have developed a thing for them because Sebastian appeals to me for that very reason Before May, he keeps everyone at bay and even May he tries to scare awayWhat do you think of me, May Young I think you re a good person, I say firmly. He reaches out, his fingers brushing my jawline for the barest second The touch electrifies my skin He leans in, his sculpted lips inches from my cheek My lungs stop working I can see the muscles shifting beneath his shirt, the gold in his eyes, the raw intensity there Then you ve never been so wrong in your life, he breathes into my earIt s all because of what has happened in his past and how his father treats him I get that the man is hurting but that gives him no right to take it out on his son It reminds me of the song Papaoutai sung by Stromae, especially the part where he sings Everyone knows how to raise a child, But no one knows how to raise a father.Well the first part is pretty disputable, but that s not the point His father makes him feel worthless and I hate his guts for thatNothing scares me.But this does.Because I m starting to want her.And I don t deserve to want anyoneI like how May worms her way through his walls And that while she too was certain she didn t do boyfriends but here she is falling for Sebastian May is funny and a bit of a klutz, she has no filter and on top of that she s also impulsive, which lands her into some troublesome situations At times that combination makes her look immature but she makes it up with her determination concerning SebastianWell, I ve decided you re going to be my friend, so I m afraid you re going to have to suck it up From what I ve been able to glean from you, a friend is someone who annoys you and drags you around when you re minding your own business I ll pass I knock him on the shoulder You don t get a passI also like Tanner, I had expected his character to be competitive He is not, he s got himself asupportive role Still I find myself not liking him at certain points, like when he takes May to a club but then pretty much abandons her there Another character that sticks out, but doesn t play too big of a role throughout the book is Opal Opal s fascination with Sebastian is peculiar and has a hostile undertone Nothing over the top that makes her look suspicious Still something doesn t seem right with her.Overall I like May and Sebastian s story, it s just the ending.it feels like a cliffhanger.but it s not Because there s no book following this one up Nor is there any mention of a follow up, so I can t help but be a little disappointed May s immaturity at times isn t a strong aspect of the book either But apart from that is it quite an enjoyable read, especially if you like your hero gloomy and sarcastic

I give this book five spectacular stars I absolutely loved this book I loved almost everything about it.First of all there s May She s sweet, kind, and most of all, stubborn When she first meets Sebastian, she s instantly drawn to him because she sees that he s hiding something underneath his cold, arrogant exterior Something about him just makes her want to understand him So when she saves him from drowning, she makes a deal with him he has to spend time with her, and she won t tell anyo I give this book five spectacular stars I absolutely loved this book I loved almost everything about it.First of all there s May She s sweet, kind, and most of all, stubborn When she first meets Sebastian, she s instantly drawn to him because she sees that he s hiding something underneath his cold, arrogant exterior Something about him just makes her want to understand him So when she saves him from drowning, she makes a deal with him he has to spend time with her, and she won t tell anyone about her saving him Little by little she chips away at his armor and finally breaks through to him Even when he tries to push her away, she refuses to give up on him The only thing I found wrong with May was the fact that even though she said at the beginning that she was never going to fall in love, she wasn t very convincing From the very instant she met Sebastian, she had feelings for him So for someone who claims that they will never trust a man not to hurt her, she s awfully quick to change her mind But other than that, I really loved May She had such a great personality and she was so genuine SHe didn t seem fake or too good to be true, like some heroines I ve read about She was a great main character and I loved her unwillingness to let Sebastian be lonely Next, there s Sebastian The only way to describe him is a tortured soul Bad things happened to him when he was young, and he s grown up since with his father blaming him and training him to be a cold, unfeeling machine And Sebastian pretty much has that role down pat Even though he s the star swimmer at his college, he refuses to make friends He shoots down anyone who tries to talk with him So he s known around campus as an arrogant jerk But when May saves him from drowning in the ocean, he can feel his hard exterior slipping He thinks he doesn t deserve to have anyone care about him But he agrees to spend time with May anyway, so she won t tell anyone what happened And thetime he spends with her, seeing her accepting personality, he begins to care about her too I loved Sebastian So much so that he has been added to my Book Boyfriend List I felt bad for him because of what happened in his past, and my heart went out to him because he felt like he didn t deserve to have anyone care about him And you know what they say, we only accept the love we think we deserve As the book progressed and he started opening up to May, I felt so happy for him I was definitely rooting for a HEA for him If anyone deserves one, it s him. Then there s Tanner Tanner is May s best friend, and he s been in love with her since they were kids So when May starts hanging out with Sebastian and she practically forces him to hang out with them too, he can tell that there sgoing on there than on the surface, he just chooses to ignore it because May told him there was nothing between her and Sebastian I kinda felt bad for the guy, honestly, because he was almost the perfect best friend to May, but that s all he ll ever be to her I kept waiting for another minor character to pop up and become his new love interest I really wanted him to be happy too And at the end I almost cried because she had to leave him behind for a while The only beef I have with Tanner is his short little chapter that was randomly thrown in there I personally am not a fan of there only being two viewpoints and then suddenly BAM there s randomly another viewpoint thrown in, but only once Overall, I really enjoyed this book I loved the plotline and all the minor characters and the setting and the descriptions Yeah, I just loved pretty much everything And there weren t any parts where I was like, Why are these even in here So that was a plus ANd the ending I liked the ending and I was happy for almost everyone, but I also felt like it was a little bittersweet But in a good way if that makes any sense I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a good love story with a hint of angst and mystery thrown in

You know what I didn t expect anything from it Ok, that was lie I do have expectation A very normal expectation particularly when it comes to New Adult books This genre is as if manufactured with different label, packaging but the contents are all the same So there is something to be said with low expectations When you level the bar at its lowest you tend to appreciate the little significant parts.Like the others it is also about a boy with tragic past and living his life with his icy exte You know what I didn t expect anything from it Ok, that was lie I do have expectation A very normal expectation particularly when it comes to New Adult books This genre is as if manufactured with different label, packaging but the contents are all the same So there is something to be said with low expectations When you level the bar at its lowest you tend to appreciate the little significant parts.Like the others it is also about a boy with tragic past and living his life with his icy exterior and indifference with others He doesn t want anyone to get close to him because of the mindset he has that person will be in danger Enter the girl will break down this walls despite his constant warning She s insistent of breaking those barriers to see the real him and in the process fall in love with him. That is Sebastian Crane and May Young s story May transfer to a new school where her best friend Tanner also attends Tanner gave her a brief tour and she came across Sebastian who treated her with his usual icy demeanor But she wasn t entirely convinced so when her roommate Opal presented an opportunity to get close to him and at the same time help her mother with her career she went along Only to find out that there is definitelyto him and those is breaking her promise to herself not to fall in love. The good thing about this story is that the things I expected were weren t I have visualized Sebastian and his aloofness to be unsubstantial characteristic to make him deep But no, he was really badly burned by his past What I liked about it is that instead wasting his time doing some bad boy acts for the bad boy effect he consumed himself on the things that he excels Talk about productivity And the girl May She is just fun and sincere She s honest depends on the opportunity as she is tact I liked her I liked that she has purpose to be with him instead to those clich s they have undeniably attracted to each other I saw how their relationship progressed There was an actual development between the two and that made me smileThe romance was nicely done not perfect but well developed.Tanner the guy friend didn t hide his affection towards his best friend But once again my expectations toppled down to ground because I thought he will fight and tooth and nail for her But no, he gives way because he knows that if she loves himthan the idea of them together He wants her happiness. And I must say those chapters written on his POV were hilarious The guy has character. And Opal, as in woah I did not see that coming.Torrential is something different but still quite the same It has the same components like the rest of the books from this genre But what I liked about it is that I felt the genuineness of the story and the characters It is written because May Sebastian has a story to tell not because these kinds of story are selling like hotcakes One word real.3.5 5

I liked the story Tanner, may and sebastian were aces Good characters and a strong female protagonist What I did not like about the book was the absurd fear that because of sebastian something would happen to may It just seemed really fake and unbelievable Also, the ending was super rushed and I just couldn t wrap my head around sebastian and may dropping out of college and running away together and just the whole situation with Opal That s why the book lost points for me which resulted in I liked the story Tanner, may and sebastian were aces Good characters and a strong female protagonist What I did not like about the book was the absurd fear that because of sebastian something would happen to may It just seemed really fake and unbelievable Also, the ending was super rushed and I just couldn t wrap my head around sebastian and may dropping out of college and running away together and just the whole situation with Opal That s why the book lost points for me which resulted in 3 stars

I thought this book had a lot of potential, but overall, I thought it was just okay I felt a lot of this book was rushed Don t get me wrong, I don t think Morgan should have dragged out the story But I did feel a lot of it was just surface deep.Take Tanner The summary and the beginning of the book lead us to believe that he s madly, deeply in love with May for a long time Sure, there was a scene where everything blew up, but it was very short lived, and I felt he got over it really quickly I thought this book had a lot of potential, but overall, I thought it was just okay I felt a lot of this book was rushed Don t get me wrong, I don t think Morgan should have dragged out the story But I did feel a lot of it was just surface deep.Take Tanner The summary and the beginning of the book lead us to believe that he s madly, deeply in love with May for a long time Sure, there was a scene where everything blew up, but it was very short lived, and I felt he got over it really quickly If I were ever in a situation like that, I could only hope that Tanner would react like he did and then get over it.But aside from that, I thought Sebastian would put up a harder fight Yes, she did blackmail him, but I felt he gave in way too easily, and he wasn t as big of a jerk as I thought he would be And I m sorry, but May was persistent which is not a bad thing but to the border line of crazy, psycho stalker following him in the shower, finding out where his rooms and classes are.And I did have an idea that something was up from the beginning It was almost too obvious Although, I admit I had thought it was along the lines of Ellen Ellie, which threw that theory out the door upon their unpleasant encounter Then I thought it had somethingto do with the abduction, but not that In a way, I was waiting forof these bad people businessmen trying to extort money or what not to prove this dangerous situation that Sebastian was trying to keep May way from. Also, I do not buy the deal with Renee Sure, she may just want to get to know him better and want the best for him, but it just doesn t fit right It would have been different if she had been a nanny that raised him or something they never told us how long they ve been married anyway , but he acted way too paranoid that she was around for that to be her whole story And how could someone that kind of loving marry someone like his father I kept waiting for there to beabout her But no, it was almost like she was written in for convenience.Overall, it wasn t a bad readof one that was just okay Like I said, I wasn t planning to analyze this apart because it wasn t meant to be a such a book However, I was just left with so many things that didn t sit well with me
