I would give it 4.5 stars. As a former college football player, I found a lot of truth and realism in Hard Wired. I dog eared several pages that had quotes I either identified with or were accurate descriptions of football mentality. The language is harsh. It seemed to be current. The F-bombs and aggression and sexual exploitation will turn some people off and they will reject the story without understanding its truth.
I couldn't find anything about the author Jebb A. Rebal. He is a goodreads author and I'm sure there are places to go for biographical descriptions. He writes extremely well in some places and a little undeveloped in some others. I liked the book. It is three overly aggressive young football players and a D-III school and the ups and downs of their frosh season. It's not a happy ending, but it is real.

An exhilarating read with a lot of surprising caveats and characters
