I must admit, I didn t read the first book before I picked this one up however, this book carries its own weight and is not a disappointment. This book deals about Carlise s experiences on her road to becoming a Spade It deals with her relationships with other Spades, primarily with Chris It also deals with what happened to Jennifer, the girl who mysteriously vanished Overall it is a good book, very easy to read and has such a solid story The author proves to be an exceptional writer and kno I must admit, I didn t read the first book before I picked this one up however, this book carries its own weight and is not a disappointment. This book deals about Carlise s experiences on her road to becoming a Spade It deals with her relationships with other Spades, primarily with Chris It also deals with what happened to Jennifer, the girl who mysteriously vanished Overall it is a good book, very easy to read and has such a solid story The author proves to be an exceptional writer and knows how to make the chapters flow from one to the next If you give the sample chapters a try you will see how easy you will get hooked

This is a really hard review to write because I really like the story and characters, but the editing hindered the story greatly This is going to be one of those reviews where I have to do The Good The Bad Lets get The Bad out of the way first so I can at least end on a good note. The Bad If it weren t for the fact that I love the characters and the story, I would ve gave this book 2 stars due to the poor proofreading There was a mistake on almost every other page It really bothers me whe This is a really hard review to write because I really like the story and characters, but the editing hindered the story greatly This is going to be one of those reviews where I have to do The Good The Bad Lets get The Bad out of the way first so I can at least end on a good note. The Bad If it weren t for the fact that I love the characters and the story, I would ve gave this book 2 stars due to the poor proofreading There was a mistake on almost every other page It really bothers me when I see such potential in a story, to only have to down grade my rating because of errors that could have easily been caught and fixed I really, really hope when the author gets time, she will go back through this book and fix the errors and release a new edition of this Kindle story so the rating doesn t affect her salesbecause it is a good story really The first book had some editing issues, but it was nothing compared to the errors with this one. With the introduction of Charlie in this first book, I knew I d seeof him in the second book as a love interest for Calise I was excited to see how this would play out There was only one thing about Charlie that bothered me he kept calling Calise Girl That drove me nuts Tre some times uses the word Girl instead of the name of the female he s talking to, and it doesn t bother me at all It sounds right coming from Tre, but not from Charlie His use of the word Girl should ve been limited to only a couple of times I wanted to see Chrisin this book He is a huge part of the story, and I sort of missed him in this book He wasof a background character I neededChris Some of the scene transitions were a little bit confusing The characters will be doing on thing, or be in one place, then suddenly they are somewhere else, or doing something different. The Good I really like the overall story and the characters I love the whole forbidden love thing between Calise and Chris All the characters have their own personalities and they work well together Calise is starting to evolve as a character as she starts figuring out exactly who she is I also liked how she is willing to sacrifice her spot on the most wanted team to help Tre Calise is getting closer to figuring out what happened to Jennifer I have an idea of what I think happened to her, whether I m right or not I won t find out until the next book So the disappearance of the missing spade, Jennifer, is still ongoing through this book.It seems that Blue and Kevin are warming up to Calise a bitin this book I think in the next book Blue and Calise might even become friends Of course, that s just speculation on my part Even with the technical problems this book has, I m still looking forward to the next installment of the Spades series I really like the story and the characters and want to see where the next book takes them Book Hollow

I was delightfully surprised to find that I liked The Ceremony and couldn t put it down Calise seemedgenuine in this book as she tries to overcome her feelings for the elusive Chris who s sending her mixed messages as he tries to avoid any romantic entanglement Throughout the story there were twists and turns as Calise tries to solve the mystery of Jennifer Escot s, disappearance, heal the breach between Tre and his former partner and finally stumbles into an awakening of her untapped I was delightfully surprised to find that I liked The Ceremony and couldn t put it down Calise seemedgenuine in this book as she tries to overcome her feelings for the elusive Chris who s sending her mixed messages as he tries to avoid any romantic entanglement Throughout the story there were twists and turns as Calise tries to solve the mystery of Jennifer Escot s, disappearance, heal the breach between Tre and his former partner and finally stumbles into an awakening of her untapped power Although this is a work of fiction I like credibility in a novel I began to question time sequences For instance,Chris told Calise she ran away at 5 a.m., but why would Porscia be going to see a friend at that hour it didn t make sense And how did Charlie follow Calise back to the cottage when she d gotten rides home from Tre who was a professional and would have known if he was being followed These are minor in a captivating story which I recommend I look forward to reading Cave of Mirrors the next installment of the Spades saga

This book is a new a new level of annoying Chris is so unpredictable and not in a good way I questioned the choices he made constantly and it seems as if this book was written without revisions It doesn t make complete sense And book three is even worse This series has a lot of potential but the author did not do a very good job of making the book realistic Some times things made no sense Someone was hot for someone for all of two seconds and it was as if it never existed for two weeks This book is a new a new level of annoying Chris is so unpredictable and not in a good way I questioned the choices he made constantly and it seems as if this book was written without revisions It doesn t make complete sense And book three is even worse This series has a lot of potential but the author did not do a very good job of making the book realistic Some times things made no sense Someone was hot for someone for all of two seconds and it was as if it never existed for two weeks Then BAM That person pronounced their undying love. like what the heck Ease into it or at least mention that the feelings Calise had for Chris were reciprocated in the first place I mean come on lady, you left a lot unexplained, and you didn t explain in book 3 either so I m wondering what the heck is going on in this book but most of all why did i buy the whole series Obviously book 1 showed it was going no where

I received a copy of this for review, and I m glad I did There were parts of this that do ask for artistic licence, but you have to remember it s fiction, not fact, and it s paranormal speculative in genre so there are parts that won t be realistic Saying that, the characters, dialogue and scene settings are wonderful Really well done and absorbing I do think that the book could have been edited a little better, and there were issues with pacing at times.Overall, the author has a great s I received a copy of this for review, and I m glad I did There were parts of this that do ask for artistic licence, but you have to remember it s fiction, not fact, and it s paranormal speculative in genre so there are parts that won t be realistic Saying that, the characters, dialogue and scene settings are wonderful Really well done and absorbing I do think that the book could have been edited a little better, and there were issues with pacing at times.Overall, the author has a great series going here The first book was fab, the second almost as good so I hope that the third delivers

I was unsure what to expect when I picked this up I read and review a lot of books, and the quality does seem to vary. This, however, is fabulous The pacing, characterisation and story are gripping and top notch Page turner is a phrase often overused, but the style of this book was such that I genuinely found myself reading and reading and obviously turning the page a lot The premise was fun, and I love paranormal and urban fantasy stories that aren t afraid to stick to the tried and tested fo I was unsure what to expect when I picked this up I read and review a lot of books, and the quality does seem to vary. This, however, is fabulous The pacing, characterisation and story are gripping and top notch Page turner is a phrase often overused, but the style of this book was such that I genuinely found myself reading and reading and obviously turning the page a lot The premise was fun, and I love paranormal and urban fantasy stories that aren t afraid to stick to the tried and tested formula but also put their own spin on it.I do agree that the editing could be better, but it doesn t detract from the story, and to me, that s the most important thing

Calise Thomas is not the average heroine I didn t think it was possible for this series to get any better, but it did What makes Calise captivating in this series is her truthfulness She s 100percent authentic She s not this sugar coated character produced by the publishing houses which little girls can look up to She has this haunting thought process about her mother and this flawed identity struggle, and it makes her all theinteresting She s a real teenager, not a princess, not a Calise Thomas is not the average heroine I didn t think it was possible for this series to get any better, but it did What makes Calise captivating in this series is her truthfulness She s 100percent authentic She s not this sugar coated character produced by the publishing houses which little girls can look up to She has this haunting thought process about her mother and this flawed identity struggle, and it makes her all theinteresting She s a real teenager, not a princess, not a chick on a pedestal with a wand, she s on the lines of being a disturbed maniac But then blossoms into something special in book two, and by the end, i m honored to be reading her story

This is a really well written book I was a bit apprehensive at first because I haven t read the first in the series, but like other reviewers have mentioned, you don t need to since Kristy has very cleverly dropped in hints of the back story where needed I do imagine, how ever, that it book would be evenenjoyable if you had read the first one first, so I advice doing that.So I don t know about the first one, but the storyline in this one is very addictive It s worth the read for sure.
