I found myself putting post its on every page as important This book was written a mere eight years later but is filled with evidence that we were still not doing very much to rectify the situationI remember as a teen in the late sixties seeing Raid commercials that taught us insects were rotten enemies and there was no teaching in biology that insects were a precious form of life a necessary one No environmental science was taught in my high schoolI am going to continue to investigate the message Rachel Carson set out to explain to all of us it doesn't seem to have gotten better but worse I have stage 4 ovarian cancer found to be caused environmentally I am nearly certain by pesticides and GMOs Now there are advertisements for a spray barrier on your house with not a warning about its possible toxicity As a historical reference this is a must read I'm not going to pick apart Mr Graham's writing style his book is very sufficient as an investigative journal

This is a followup to Rachel Carson's 'Silent Spring' about 8 years after it was published It focuses on the followup to the publication of that book and the viewpoints of different stakeholders as well as changes to the law caused by the book Overall this was written in a fairly easy manner with points explained and people referred to in a manner that made it uite easy to pick up Context is obviously reuired Silent Spring is essential reading and although obviously dated interesting to make comparisons to today's use of pesticides and current environmental problems at hand such as plastics

The subtitle on the cover of this book is Rachel Carson has been proved right What have we done about it? Considering that the answer to that uestion is often an obvious and overwhelming not a whole hell of a lot I did a bit of skimming through this book It was informative though and depressing especially considering it was written nearly 40 years ago and we're still getting our act together concerning pesticides and the environment

I read this a long time ago Anything related to Carson's book has to be good
