This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers To view it, click here Odel lived her life controlled by her father and now he s deadand she feels little grief She feels relief at her freedom While she s contemplating what to do with her life, her fairy godmother, Tildy actually her mother s best friend who died many years ago magically shows up and says she ll help Odel meet a man, fall in love and marry Odel has no interest in being under another man s control and flat out refuses to participate in Tildy s matchmaking But then Odel s neighbor, Michelle, Odel lived her life controlled by her father and now he s deadand she feels little grief She feels relief at her freedom While she s contemplating what to do with her life, her fairy godmother, Tildy actually her mother s best friend who died many years ago magically shows up and says she ll help Odel meet a man, fall in love and marry Odel has no interest in being under another man s control and flat out refuses to participate in Tildy s matchmaking But then Odel s neighbor, Michelle, Lord of Suthtun shows up asking for shelter and his squire falls sick, so he ends up staying longer Despite Tildy s obvious dislike for Michelle, Odel finds a friend in him andBut then she learns that Michelle has also been sucked up into Tildy s schemes and begins to wonder if this is magic or if it could possibly be real I liked parts of this and others I didn t, so we fall in the middle with 3 stars This is a short story, so some of the interaction happens off screen, but overall this story manages to encompass an entire romance without there feeling like something is missing or the pacing is too fast or slow So that s well done I like the romance between Odel and Michelle even if that name drives me up the wallI get it, he s french and we re being historically accurate, but I keep seeing the name Michelle and thinking the hero is a woman I can t help it They do feel natural together and like they re falling in love Even the angst between them as Odel doubts how real this is given Tildy s intervention was nice, although it probably would be better if that sort of stuff could be drawn out a bitbut alas, short story Interspersed with all of this are Odel s interactions with Tildy, which I didn t like I didn t actually like Tildy at all And to make matters worse, all of her interactions are supposed to be funny, which just messes with the overall mood of the story at parts serious romance, at others slapstick comedy as Tildy wreaks havoc I like snarky comedy in my romance, but not gaffish comedy, which this was So I could have done without herexcept she s kind of a necessary character see title

I m giving this story a solid 3 stars for Lynsay Sands trademark humor and the happy ending Odel, the female lead, actually has a fairy godmother much like Cinderella Although I was entertained by the godmother, having a fairy godmother in the story was a bit far fetched for me and the reason why I didn t rate this story higher I liked Odel and Michelle, the male lead, regardless of the far fetched parts of the story The ending was nicely written without feeling too rushed.

This book is pretty short I d say probably novella length I liked it, but it felt rushed and not quite up to the authors usual standard Still it is a cute little story, complete with a fairy godmother Enjoy Read February 28, 2020 Kindle Edition

Funny and sweet The fairy godmother is quirky and mischievous and the main characters Michelle and Odell were sweetly matched with the fun plot twists of the other suitors

This was my first book from Lynsay Sands that wasn t part of the Argeneau Vampires series.I don t know if I really liked it.I didn t care for Tildy the Fairy Godmother at all I know that she was just being bitchy towards the main male lead on purpose, but still she came across as just very annoying even before he showed up.Odel was meh alright.Michelle I liked him But of course he was the handsome kind Lord that is everything Odel possibly could have wanted He wasn t really real in This was my first book from Lynsay Sands that wasn t part of the Argeneau Vampires series.I don t know if I really liked it.I didn t care for Tildy the Fairy Godmother at all I know that she was just being bitchy towards the main male lead on purpose, but still she came across as just very annoying even before he showed up.Odel was meh alright.Michelle I liked him But of course he was the handsome kind Lord that is everything Odel possibly could have wanted He wasn t really real in my mind because of just how absolutely perfect he was.The story ended exactly how I thought it would, and any and all plot twists, I saw a mile away.At least though with Odel giving up her V Card, she didn t instantly know how to be a sex kitten in bed But the lack of even a twinge of pain at her deflowering had my eyes rolling

I am the first one to admit that I love Cinderella stories, but I almost could not finish this one I thought the writing was choppy and really corny I enjoyed it a littlewhen Michelle this drove me nuts I have never seen a man s name spelled this way joined the story as our hero, but not enough to give this a good rating It just seemed really juvenile and then there was this random sex scene in a blacksmith forge in winter sorry not romantic.Anyway, I was a bit disappointed okay, I am the first one to admit that I love Cinderella stories, but I almost could not finish this one I thought the writing was choppy and really corny I enjoyed it a littlewhen Michelle this drove me nuts I have never seen a man s name spelled this way joined the story as our hero, but not enough to give this a good rating It just seemed really juvenile and then there was this random sex scene in a blacksmith forge in winter sorry not romantic.Anyway, I was a bit disappointed okay, very disappointed with this story Odel seemed too young to me, the fairy godmother was irritating, and even Michelle a very successful mercenary just didn t fit his character Not a story I would recommend 1.5 stars
