My GR friends know that I LOVE books with an assassin as the MC When I saw this title the first time, my eyes have almost popped out because of my happiness Unfortunately, this book didn t work for me at all, I needed to bite my tongue, skim the pages in order to finish it I gave it 1 , because I said that any book has an assassin, get 1 from me automatically.I can only say These guys were the lamest assassin s in the history of assassinations There were a lot of things I don t like in the My GR friends know that I LOVE books with an assassin as the MC When I saw this title the first time, my eyes have almost popped out because of my happiness Unfortunately, this book didn t work for me at all, I needed to bite my tongue, skim the pages in order to finish it I gave it 1 , because I said that any book has an assassin, get 1 from me automatically.I can only say These guys were the lamest assassin s in the history of assassinations There were a lot of things I don t like in the book I tried to write down the WTF moments on my statue update but I gave up on it there were just too many Since my English is bad, I cannot tell much about the writing But, there were some very long sentences that I needed to reread it 2 or 3 times until I got its meaning For example, 39% into the book The sound of Jason drawing in a deep breath as he lowered his head all the way down until his nose met the dark hair at the base of Declan s length caused him to open his mouth slightly and moan Things I didn t like, there were too many, I didn t take note of all of them, these are what I still remember view spoiler I don t even know how the guys were supposed to look like or how old they were, how big or small they were Nothing I only remember reading Rhys or Evan has green eyes Actually, we learned very little about the guys, almost nothing about Evan.Rhys was just a normal guy who worked in a fish market After he killed a guy accidentally, he decided that he can be an assassin According to the book, Evan was one of the best assassin But, he brought Rhys, an amateur to a job and let him killed the target with garrote Nothing was said about Rhys s training to be a assassin But later in the story, he said that he was good with gun and knife Maybe he meant the knife he used to gut the fishes There s no emotional relationship developed between the guys Suddenly they jumped each other And, no lube nor condom was used to the virgin Rhys Shortly after Evan and Rhys had sex, they said to each other that I trust you with my life There was no incident happened that make me believe that they can trust each other so much.Oh There were just too many things I didn t like, theI write, the angrier I get I should stop now and forget that I have even read this book view spoiler hide spoiler hide spoiler

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers To view it, click here Warning on spoilers Now this was a book that brought some confusion and disappointment while reading it I did not enjoyed this even though the theme had potentials of being great Badly written, lacking on details, jumping from scene to scene without letting you living them and mostly it gave no ways to emotionally engage with the characters No connection whatsoever I started the book and finished it and the characters were constantly strangers to me.The story starts with Rhys He is a you Warning on spoilers Now this was a book that brought some confusion and disappointment while reading it I did not enjoyed this even though the theme had potentials of being great Badly written, lacking on details, jumping from scene to scene without letting you living them and mostly it gave no ways to emotionally engage with the characters No connection whatsoever I started the book and finished it and the characters were constantly strangers to me.The story starts with Rhys He is a young man working in a fish market There is not much background about his life beside the fact that his boss is his best friend s father An incident at work leads Rhys into killing his best friend s cousin while saving someone s life The boy he saved take s him at a friend s house in order to hide and that friend takes him at another friend s house Yes, confusing isn t it So many characters that have no significance are thrown in the plot and vanished with amazing speed that let you wondering From now on the story jumps and Rhys meets Evan the last friend Evan is a cleaner , he s one of the best out there, because no one has seen his face and no one knows what he does for living What I found very strange was the fact that Evan, not only lets Rhys in the secret, but he actually takes him in the job and let s a complete amateur making the kill, simply based on the fact that Rhys accidently killed a man before Not realistic at all and honestly I felt like closing the book right there and then It isn t easy writing crime mystery and for me Ms Whitney failed at this attempt completely. There aren t any sex scenes in the story up until now Rhys is just a guy and we don t have much feedback on his sexual life before, beside the fact that he hasn t engaged with a man or even thought of it Evan is gay and living with Rhys wakes desires Eventually he makes his move towards Rhys and start a relationship with him Again this failed for me, it had no amount of emotions, intensity or connection between the characters, so they didn t connect with me either It was like a clinical record of events, undetailed whatsoever And while we re trying to compensate with the pair, the story jumps again and they get apart.Evan takes a job that demands the cleaning of the most important mafia Boss Declan at the time While he can t do the job himself, because he is a known killer see the contradiction he gives it to Rhys, who is to infiltrate into Declan s organization and eventually take him down But things do not go as planned and both men, Rhys and Declan, fall for each other With Rhys trapped between his feelings for Evan and Declan he is in danger of losing his own life, dare he fail doing his job.And the book ends with the same detached way as it went all along For me it was an unfortunate reading and I can t recommend it If you re a fan of crime mystery this book will not do it for you

The blurb pretty much gave the whole book away so I m not going to worry too much about spoilers What the blurb didn t mention was that there was cheating And no, cheating isn t alright just because both MCs wind up in a triad with the cheatee So what the blurb didn t give away the book cover did The blurb also left out any Emotion Unfortunately, so did the actual book 2 stars because my friend says that any book with an assassin automatically gets one.

A Joyfully Jay review DNFIt seemed like an incredibly interesting premise But the execution simply wasn t there for me At all In just the part that I read, I encountered numerous problems The writing was stilted and jerky The characters were flat and one dimensional Nothing worked for me in this book and I couldn t engage in the story at all It was a true struggle to read even the half of the book that I did.Rhys doesn t make any sense He barely reacts after having killed a man He take A Joyfully Jay review DNFIt seemed like an incredibly interesting premise But the execution simply wasn t there for me At all In just the part that I read, I encountered numerous problems The writing was stilted and jerky The characters were flat and one dimensional Nothing worked for me in this book and I couldn t engage in the story at all It was a true struggle to read even the half of the book that I did.Rhys doesn t make any sense He barely reacts after having killed a man He takes help from strangers without worry or care He has never thought of being with a man, and in fact believes it to be a sin, but the moment Evan makes a move on him, Rhys gives in and enjoys it Even the sex was mediocre at best because the characters had no chemistry whatsoever.Evan is actually a little bit better drawn, as we understand immediately his dedication to the job and seeing it completed But honestly, I didn t understand him either He s always worked alone, but he immediately accepts Rhys as a partner when the other man wants to come along In fact, on the first job they do together, he lets Rhys make the kill I had no idea why he does the things he does, or how he got into it in the first place I have no clue what he saw in Rhys, as it was barely even mentioned that he thought Rhys was beautiful His actions in this first half of the story make no sense as to what his character is supposed to be.Read Kris review in its entirety here

1.5 starsImpulse read, bad mistake but it looked so good and I thought the assassin storyline would be great Wrong, a disappointing flop with too many inconsistencies to mention Unfortunately the emotional side was stale and there was an icky moment, when no care was taken in preparing the young and innocent lover Not recommended, sorry to say its a mess and not good.
